Thai food is, without doubt, one of southeast Asia’s gifts to the culinary world. From coconut-based curries with their complex flavours, to broths that pack heft, the cuisine is certainly worthy of praise of the highest levels. There is no dearth of Thai restaurants in Jakarta with each offering up delectable dishes paying homage to the cuisine. Noble by Zab Thai is one of them.

In bustling Gunawarman, the restaurant, which has been open for just about a month, offers a range of authentic dishes in environs that are warm, soothing and perfect for both intimate meals and larger family gatherings. Warm lighting and well appointed throughout, the restaurant is one of those rare places where both food and ambience combine with aplomb. Wood panels bordered by soft lighting abounds as does several semi private spaces with high back couch spaces where groups can gather in relative privacy alongside the standard tables.

Here you will be served authentic food prepared in fairly generous portions that are perfect for sharing with companions or tucking into during a fit of gluttony.

There are dishes such as the Pad Kana Moo Krob Rad Khao or Fried pork belly with a special sauce and Chinese broccoli served with rice and egg. Generous cuts of pork sit well with the sauce which is rich and complex and is the ideal main dish. If soup is more your thing, there’s the classic Tom Yum Goong, that old stalemate of a spicy broth flavoured intensely with tiger prawn, mushroom and lemongrass. Flavourful and richly spiced these dishes are certainly worthy of repeat orders should you choose to return here.

Food are served in traditional way that reflect Thai culture in enjoying food.

With a range of drinks on offer, pair these dishes with either a red or white wine and you’ll be sure to enjoy these flavours that much more.

There are also crab dishes such as the Pu Pad Pong Karee which involves crabs in a yellow curry sauce. The spices permeate the crab shell and flavours the meat so that each bite is a burst of complex – and delicious – flavour.

As you end your meal, there are a few delicious options, like the Itim Kati Ruam Mit or Coconut Ice Cream. Coconut milk, blue sticky rice and peanuts take this dessert to another level and the rich intensity of the coconut adds an unmatched flavour note for that sweet, delicious finish to an absolutely perfect meal!
