Launching for the first time ever, the Ondel-Ondel Bazaar has a bold and gracious intention to revive local and small businesses focusing on Indonesia and Jakarta’s art and culture.

Ondel-Ondel Bazaar

COVID-19 restrictions and repercussions still hit fresh on our economy, small and micro businesses especially aren’t immune to the devastating blow caused by the confining health protocols. Many have lost their market and stores, access to new communities and promising new consumers.

Driven by this, Yuliana Limbong from @central_frame, owner of a retail shop selling handmade wooden frames and handicrafts, and her community, have gathered more than 40 local vendors to organise the first-ever Ondel-Ondel Bazaar. Ranging in abundance from jewellery, handicrafts, clothes, and shoes to winery, beer and cakes – all inspired by or signature to Indonesia and Jakarta’s culture and tradition. They have come together and united in one diverse and bountiful market to emphasise the potential of these small businesses to rise again and in the long run, promote the richness of our culture reflected in our local products to fellow Jakarta natives and expatriates.

There you will find various interesting items, such as hand-print batik using plants to create different patterns made into shoes, bags and clothes. Local and organic food and beverages are also available for those who have big appetites.

Date: Wednesday, 8 February 2023, from 9.00 am – 3.00pm
Venue: Pondok Indah Golf Apartment at Basketball Hall – Jl. Metro Pondok Indah, Blok III BB, Pondok Indah, Jakarta Selatan.

This event is open to the public with free entry.
