The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Kemenekraf/Bekraf) and Artotel Group have agreed to collaborate through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Indonesian games during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays, in the form of a programme called Re(Kreasi) Lokal. It was held on 30 December 2024 at ARTOTEL Thamrin Jakarta by Plt. Secretary of Bekraf, Dessy Ruhati, and Director of PT Artotel Indonesia, Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego.
For Re(Kreasi) Lokal, Artotel Group provides a set of PlayStation 5s with a variety of local games that hotel guests can choose from in support of Indonesian game makers. The set is available in the best room types or in public spaces, such as the lobby area, for guests to play for free as many times they want during their stay, starting from January 1.
The participating hotels include ARTOTEL Thamrin Jakarta, ARTOTEL TS Suites Surabaya, ARTOTEL Sanur Bali, ROOMS Inc D’Botanica Bandung, and ROOMS INC Semarang. Specially curated by the Indonesian Game Association team, the various games available are Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur, Petit Island, A Space for the Unbound, Cats and Seek: Osaka, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2, Dreadout 2, Coral Island, Potion Permit, and Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly.
Plt. Secretary of Bekraf Dessy Ruhati explained that this collaboration is expected to create a creative economy ecosystem by increasing the exposure of Indonesian local games, creating added value to the game industry, and encouraging synergy between local game developers, government, and private sector. Moreover, she explained this as a continuation from a previous collaboration between Kemenekraf/Bekraf and Artotel Group on the Jalan Jalan Lokal (JJL) app for a similar purpose.
Director of PT Artotel Indonesia/COO Artotel Group, Eduard Rudolf Pangkerego, expressed his pride in participating in advancing the creative economy sector in Indonesia, especially for games. ‘We hope this cooperation will continue, we will have a lot of programmes that can be discussed, hopefully more. Hopefully the creative economy can become the new engine of growth, and this is what we are waiting for from this industry,’ explained Eduard.
President of the Indonesian Game Association, Shafiq Husein, thanked the Ministry of Creative Economy for being given the opportunity to showcase games from Indonesia. “This is a new milestone for our game developer friends to let the public know that Indonesian games have a lot of genres, a variety of styles,” said Shafiq. “I hope that Indonesia’s creative industry will grow, and together, we will build this country towards a Golden Indonesia.”
