After a year hiatus, the island’s most interesting and informative conference is returning for its fifth event. On 28 May 2016, TEDxUbud will be bringing change makers, innovators, social pioneers – and more – from around Indonesia back on to the Bali stage. TEDx events are independently organised fringe events of the immensely popular TED talks seen around the world, live and online, aimed at spreading ideas in the form of short, powerful talks.

This year, the event will again take place at the famous wellness retreat Fivelements Puri Ahimsa, whilst for the first time a live simulcast will be streamed to the Sanur-based creative hub, Rumah Sanur. With the theme “Small Things, Great Things”, this year’s confirmed line up includes: A Balinese opera singer, pioneers of biofuel in Bali, a contortionist fresh off a three-year world tour, a man who bicycles through history, Indonesia’s first female Muslim standup comedian, and a photographer who has mastered the art of high-low food.

The event takes place between 10am to 5pm, with only 300 seats available at Fivelements and 200 at Rumah Sanur.
