Ramadan is a time of reflection, unity, and—if you happen to be in the right place—an extravagant culinary indulgence. This year, Vasa Hotel Surabaya is offering an Iftar meal that celebrates India’s vibrant cuisine and cultural landscape with “A Taste of India’s Rich Traditions” starting from 21 February 2025, from 04.30 pm until 10:00 pm at 209 Dining,

From entrance, the hotel will be transformed into a setting reminiscent of an Indian royal court. The lobby, adorned with Mughal-inspired decor, honours Surabaya’s deep-rooted connection to Indian trade, culture, and cuisine.

Breaking the fast begins with an indulgent array of India’s most celebrated street food: pani puri filled with the right tanginess, perfectly crisp samosas, and hand-stretched naan still warm from the oven. The centrepieces of the feast are their creamy tikka masala, aromatic biryani, and rich, slow-cooked curries.

Each dish here is crafted with full of love and passion under the watchful eye of Executive Chef Himawan Kristianto. “For this Ramadan, we have fused the best of India’s culinary heritage with Indonesia’s beloved flavours,” shares Chef Himawan. “From the piquant crunch of pani puri to the deep, comforting richness of biryani, we have ensured that authenticity and indulgence go hand in hand. And for those who crave familiar tastes, our buffet also includes classic Indonesian takjil such as kolak pisang and es cendol.”

Vasa Hotel’s Ramadan offerings cater to both the street-food enthusiast and the connoisseur of refined dining. Guests can immerse themselves in the energy of an Indian street market at Savore, where chaat, tandoori delicacies, and traditional sweets are served in an environment buzzing with the vibrancy of Delhi’s bazaars, available for IDR 199,000 nett per person. For those who prefer a more sumptuous experience, 209 Dining presents an extravagant buffet, featuring the silkiness of butter chicken, the fragrance of saffron-infused biryani, and handcrafted desserts that bring the meal to an exquisite close, with an early bird price of IDR 299,000 nett per person.
