Caspar Jakarta has formally reintroduced itself with Sabores de España, a relaunch that signalled a renewed focus on Spanish culinary authenticity and cultural exchange, staged through an intimate gathering at The Orient Jakarta on 12 December 2025. With the evening marking the restaurant’s return, Caspar Jakarta is determined to position Spanish cuisine as a serious, sustained presence in Jakarta’s evolving food landscape by putting emphasis on regional techniques and shared dining.
Held on the ground floor of The Orient Jakarta on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, the Sabores de España experience introduced guests to a menu built around recognisable Spanish classics. A spread of tapas set the tone, followed by paella prepared with restraint and clarity, accompanied by sangria. The focus remained firmly on flavour and balance, allowing the cuisine to speak without distraction.

A significant development underpinning the relaunch is the appointment of Chef Javier Salido, whose background includes tenures at Michelin-recognised kitchens such as Barrafina, StreetXO by David Muñoz, and Hispania by Marcos Morán. His arrival shows a tightening of Caspar’s culinary direction, anchoring the menu in techniques and sensibilities shaped in Spain rather than adapted from afar. For diners familiar with Spanish food beyond surface-level interpretations, this shift carries weight.
The relaunch was attended by members of the media alongside invited guests, including the Spanish Ambassador to Indonesia, His Excellency Bernardo de Sicart Escoda. His presence reaffirmed the evening’s broader cultural context, framing the restaurant as a site of informal cultural representation.

Beyond the plate, Caspar Jakarta has retained its emphasis on atmosphere. The evening unfolded with Spanish acoustic guitar, transitioned into a live band performance, and concluded with a DJ set, creating a progression that mirrored the rhythm of a long Mediterranean dinner.
Caspar Jakarta aims to continue positioning itself as a reliable and sought-after destination for Spanish gastronomy rooted in credibility and consistency. With its relaunch complete, the restaurant resumes service with a clearer identity and a sharpened focus. Diners curious about Spanish cuisine as it is practiced, rather than reinterpreted, may find this a timely moment to return, or to visit for the first time.
