The British Women’s Association (BWA) brought a slice of the British track to the heart of the city on 9 May 2026. Taking over the Grand Ballroom at the Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, the “A Day at the Races” Charity Ball brought together Jakarta’s local and expat residents, who traded standard formal wear for the bold hats and tailored suits typically found at major racing events.

The afternoon-into-evening event moved at a brisk pace, featuring a charity auction and a catwalk where guests showcased their race-day outfits. While the outfits were a centerpiece, the real focus was the drive to fund Rachel House Indonesia. As the country’s first provider of pediatric palliative care, Rachel House is a critical resource for children and families navigating life-limiting illnesses—a cause that took center stage throughout the event.

Since its launch in 1975, the BWA has acted as a practical link for women of all backgrounds to engage in local philanthropy. This annual gala is their flagship effort, using a social platform to generate tangible aid for Indonesian communities.
The successful turnout was the result of a coordinated effort between sponsors, volunteers, and donors. By the end of the evening, the BWA had once again demonstrated its ability to turn a high-profile gathering into essential support for local healthcare initiatives.
