For Indonesians, sate is far more than skewered meat grilled over glowing charcoal. It is a culinary tradition shaped by generations, regions and local flavours, with each variety telling its own story. This September, food lovers are invited to explore that delicious diversity at the Festival Sate Nusantara (Nusantara Satay Festival) 2026, presented by Sate Khas Senayan.

Known as a destination for lovers of Indonesian satay, Sate Khas Senayan is bringing the flavours of the archipelago together in one celebration. More than 20 varieties of sate from across Indonesia will take centre stage, offering diners the chance to discover the distinctive spices, marinades and cooking traditions that make each regional speciality unique.

The festival begins at Angkringan Sate Senayan, a pop-up at the Plaza Senayan Fountain area from 2–6 September 2026, open daily from 11am to 11pm. Inspired by the humble angkringan—the traditional street-side food stall found in cities and towns across Java—the setting gives this familiar Indonesian dining experience a contemporary urban twist.

For those who find it impossible to choose just one, the Discovery Platter is the perfect place to begin. Featuring eight different varieties of sate, the selection changes daily, making each visit an opportunity to discover something new. Alongside the skewers are an assortment of Indonesian side dishes and snacks, creating a generous spread made for sharing and exploring.

The pop-up also brings together Sate Khas Senayan, TUKU, BCA and Kecap Bango, blending Indonesia’s vibrant food culture with its equally beloved coffee culture and modern urban lifestyle. It is a collaboration that feels distinctly Indonesian: familiar, social and centred around the simple pleasure of gathering over good food.

But the satay adventure does not end in Senayan. From 7 September to 18 October 2026, the Nusantara Satay Festival will continue at Sate Khas Senayan outlets across Jabodetabek, giving diners more time to explore the flavours of the archipelago.

One of the highlights is the Sate Passport, which turns the experience into a culinary journey. The concept is simple: Eat → Discover → Stamp → Collect → Get Rewards. By trying different satay varieties, diners can collect up to 20 stamps and unlock rewards along the way, with dining vouchers among the prizes available through a lucky draw.

For food lovers, however, the real reward is the journey itself. From sweet and savoury marinades to fragrant spice pastes and smoky charcoal grills, every skewer offers another glimpse into Indonesia’s remarkable culinary landscape.

Starting in Senayan—the birthplace of Sate Khas Senayan—the festival brings sate firmly back into the spotlight, celebrating it not simply as an everyday favourite but as a culinary treasure filled with flavours, traditions and regional stories.

So come hungry, bring your appetite for discovery, and prepare to eat your way across the archipelago—one skewer at a time.
