Jakarta’s afternoon tea has taken a botanical turn this September with InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah introducing The Blooming Hour at The Lounge. Pairing floral-inspired pastries and savouries with fine teas and a water lily-inspired welcome drink, this tantalising delicacy is served daily from 2 PM to 5 PM throughout September 2026.
The menu takes its cues from flowers, fruit and herbs, though the approach stays firmly on the edible side of the garden. Guests begin with a violet-hued mocktail inspired by the water lily, combining butterfly pea, yuzu and sparkling grape for a bright, lightly citrusy opening.
The main selection comes presented on The Lounger’s signature gold tiered stand, with sweet and savoury bites side by side. Among the sweets is a raspberry, lychee and rose pastry, joined by elderflower panna cotta with mixed berries. Freshly baked scones keep to familiar afternoon-tea territory, served with Chantilly cream and raspberry jam.

The savouries bring more depth to the spread. Smoked sablefish is paired with ikura, while a blue cheese and onion quiche comes with pear compote. Chicken pelalah served on warm turmeric focaccia adds a distinctly Indonesian note, borrowing from the spiced shredded chicken of Balinese cooking.
Tea remains central to the afternoon with a selection of fine teas accompanies the menu, served from blue-and-white porcelain that gives the table a slightly more traditional character against the gold stand and botanical presentation. Guests are welcomed beneath The Lounge’s chandelier and high windows, making this a particularly leisurely option for anyone looking to put a proper pause between lunch and dinner.
