What began as an idea for the 25th anniversary celebration of Yayasan Kasih Mulia Sejati has become one of West Jakarta’s most gentle surprises. On the quiet stretch of Jalan Pakis Raya, Bojong Indah, the foundation built Taman Doa Kasih Mulia Sejati, a thoughtfully designed urban oasis that invites reflection and renewal. This 5,000-square-metre garden was constructed with environmental care and purpose, without felling a single tree. The landscape design integrates mature vegetation, native flora, and meandering paths into a seamless canopy. The result is a new haven for those seeking peace and reflection under a naturally cooled, light-filtered environment that merges ecology with quietude.
As Yayasan Kasih Mulia Sejati is a Catholic organisation, the park features hand-crafted Christian statues, including the Virgin Mary and the Stations of the Cross, which naturally draw the faithful to moments of devotion. However, built beside the foundation’s long-standing orphanage and community centre, Taman Doa Kasih Mulia Sejati was envisioned as a space open to all, regardless of faith or background. It is less a formal religious site and more a contemplative landscape, where visitors are encouraged to step away from the noise of the city’s endless traffic and rush, and spend a few quiet moments in gratitude and stillness. This sense of openness aligns with the foundation’s broader mission of charity, education, and compassion for humanity.
During the inauguration, attended by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, West Jakarta Mayor Uus Kuswanto, local clergy, and community representatives, the garden was described as a living symbol of harmony, where spirituality and urban life can coexist without division. A commemorative plaque now stands at the entrance, marking its opening as a shared civic, ecological, and inclusive space. The ceremony also included a blessing ritual and the planting of new saplings, reinforcing the garden’s theme of growth and renewal.
Visitors today can stroll through shaded walkways, pause by water features, and listen to the soft rustle of leaves that replaces the city’s usual din. The garden’s simplicity speaks for itself, an expanse of greenery that softens the surrounding concrete sprawl, ready to welcome all.
