The German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce EKONID was first founded in 1924 and later reopened in 1970. Helmed by Managing Director Jan Roennfeld, EKONID has grown into a reliable and competent business partner for German and Indonesian companies.

EKONID’s expert knowledge ranges from marked information and new business relations, law and management consulting, trade fair and event management to advertising and promotion. EKONID sees itself as a responsible member of the Indonesian society and is active in numerous development projects.

EKONID promotes bilateral economical relations aiming to secure sustainable trade and investment between the two countries, which remains relatively high. Many major German companies have been present in Indonesia since the 1980s. While the financial crisis in the late 1990s caused a decrease of new companies coming to the country, the interest began to resurge a couple of years ago.

The chamber fulfills three main tasks, namely the support of trade and investment, the organization of its members, as well as acting as service provider for companies.

Additionally, EKONID focuses on strategic business development in fields such as renewable energies, where they encourage German and Indonesian companies to work together.

EKONID in Indonesia is the central player when it comes to promotion of foreign trade for the Federal Republic of Germany. It represents German economic interests in Indonesia.

Organization of members
The German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce has more than 500 members from well-known companies and people and strives to represent their interests. EKONID’s network allows its members to establish contacts and have lively exchanges with interesting business partners through a wide range of activities and social events. The members give EKONID the authority needed to interact with politicians, businesses and administrations in terms of promoting bilateral business relations.

Service provider for companies
Under the trademark DEinternational, EKONID provides companies from Germany and Indonesia with services to support their foreign business activities. Its services are aimed at companies with interests in the Indonesian market, as well as local companies looking for reliable partners. The chamber offers services in many fields such as initiating business deals, market studies, corporate services, trade fairs and events as well as design and communication.
