The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is ready to bring all snippets of fun from Macau straight to Jakarta with their “Experience Macao” Roadshow from 9 -12 May 2024 at the Central Park Mall, Laguna Atrium. Working alongside the Hengqin Economic Development Bureau and six (6) integrated resort companies in Macao, this event unveils the region’s fresh identity as a global tourism and leisure hub to the eager Indonesian audience.

Centred around the theme “Experience Macao,” the roadshow will feature various “Tourism +” elements of Macao and create several engaging and fun interactive play zones, including visitors having the opportunity to virtually explore Macao’s World Heritage Historical Center, landmarks and cultural experiences, gastronomy, and more through advanced VR headsets, the Macau Grand Prix simulator, making fireworks with interactive games, and an immersive interactive Portuguese egg tart installation.

The event will also feature a variety of stage performances, including Indonesian singer Lyodra Ginting, musical group TBA, UN1TY, as well as lion dance, Portuguese folk dance, A Cappella, and Bossa Nova performances. Visitors will have the chance to win Macao-themed souvenirs through stamp collections and interactive sessions on-site. The Grand Lucky Draw will be held at 4:30 PM and 8:30 PM each day. Lucky winners will receive a travel package to Macao.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, MGTO has launched the “My Treats for You” program. This program offers special travel offers for international visitors (excluding visitors from mainland China). The offers include 250,000 prizes, including special offers for flight tickets, cross-border transportation, hotel accommodations, dining, entertainment, and show tickets.

The six leading integrated resorts in Macao participating in this event are SJM Resorts, S.A., MGM, Wynn Resorts Macau, Sands China Ltd., Galaxy Entertainment Group, and Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, each showcasing the uniqueness of their resorts. From luxury accommodations to world-class entertainment, visitors will find unmatched hospitality and excitement awaiting them in Macao. Additionally, by collaborating with Air Macau and nine (9) Indonesian travel agents, MGTO is dedicated to providing the best travel offers and packages to visitors during the event.

With the increasing number of direct flights connecting Macao to destinations in Southeast Asia and the launch of direct flights by Air Macau between Jakarta and Macau in November 2023, the interest of Indonesian tourists in visiting Macao has rapidly increased,” explained Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office.

The Macao government is currently reshaping the relationship between tourism, gaming zones, MICE, and other new industries, promoting the development of quality tourism, supporting operators to develop new tourism products, encouraging the broader growth of the tourism industry chain, and deepening cross-sector integration under the name “Tourism +,” including “Tourism+ MICE,” “Tourism+ Culture and Creativity,” “Tourism+ E-commerce,” “Tourism+ Sports,” “Tourism+ Education,” and more.

“MGTO will continue to actively seek cooperation opportunities between Macao and Indonesia, and we hope to welcome more Indonesian visitors to Macao and strengthen our relationship with the Indonesian tourism industry,” clarified Helena de Senna Fernandes. She also mentioned that for Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia, new initiatives are taken by the integrated resort companies in Macao and that they are assuredly taking steps to provide halal-friendly facilities for Muslim travellers.
