Gran Melia Jakarta announces the appointment of Luxembourg-born Kevin Marchetti as the hotel’s New Executive Chef.
Arriving from his most recent posting as the Pre-Opening Executive Chef at Gran Melia Arusha in Tanzania, Chef Kevin Marchetti brings more than 15 years of five-star experience to Gran Melia Jakarta. Beginning his culinary career at a very young age in his hometown, Chef Marchetti found himself partaking in the kitchen and developed a passion for cooking, where later he’d study hospitality and culinary, in a 4-year full training program at the Hotel Management School in Luxembourg.
With abounding experience that spanned across Europe, Africa and Asia, Chef Marchetti has led the kitchens of International Hotel Chains, including Hyatt and Accor, he also worked in Michelin-star-rated restaurants alongside Michelin-starred Chefs Peter Korner and Lea Linister in Luxembourg as well as Harald Wohlfahrt in Germany.
In his new role, Chef Kevin Marchetti will oversee the kitchen operations in all the dining venues of Gran Melia Jakarta, and across all catering spaces of 15 functions rooms, including the Jimbaran Venue. Focusing on fresh, local flavours and a drive for perfection, Chef Kevin will be elevating the buffet dining at Café Gran Via to new heights in creating a new Sunday Brunch concept. He will also personalise innovative menus from intimate VIP dinners to excited customised menus for special celebrations or gatherings.
This new addition to Gran Melia Jakarta is something that the hotel welcomes warmly, with the General Manager, Micro Iada, expressing his excitement in welcoming Chef Kevin Marchetti to the hotel’s culinary team, “I am confident that his passion for cooking, creativity, and exceptional culinary skills will enhance our dining experience and set a new standard for our guests.
