Closing the month of November, Jakarta will host a meaningful musical celebration as The Resonanz Music Studio presents Resonansi Abadi, the Jubilee Festival of World Composers. Held over three days from 28 until 30 November 2025, this event marks a convergence of historical milestones: the jubilee commemoration of legendary composers and Indonesia’s approach to its eighth decade of independence.
The festival spans three evenings at Balai Resital Kertanegara, Kebayoran Baru, where selected works of eminent composers will be performed by teachers of The Resonanz Music Studio. Each night carries a distinctive theme, carefully curated to highlight the depth and diversity of classical music traditions and their influence on culture, diplomacy, and memory.
The opening programme, Transatlantic Sound: From Shostakovich to Copland, takes place on Friday, 28 November 2025, at 7.30 pm. This concert explores the musical dialogue that stretches across continents, contrasting the sharp satire and tension of Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich with the open, lyrical expression of American composer Aaron Copland. It serves as a symbolic nod to 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia, illustrating how art can foster understanding beyond political boundaries.
The second evening, Rhapsodie Française: Jubilé des Maîtres, will be staged on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at 7.30 pm. Audiences will be invited into the distinctive world of French composition through the works of Maurice Ravel and Erik Satie. The performance embraces folk influences, poetic musical imagery, and subtle satire, reflecting the playful yet refined spirit of French music. The theme aligns with 75 years of friendship between Indonesia and France, adding diplomatic significance to the cultural showcase.
The festival concludes with Soirée Bizet on Sunday, 30 November 2025, at 4.00 pm. This closing performance pays tribute to Georges Bizet, culminating in selections from Carmen, an opera famed for its dramatic passion and enduring emotional pull. The works presented illustrate how music can encapsulate the complexities of human experience and remain resonant across generations.
