Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable hospitality practices through the launch of its flagship initiative, Santika Sahabat Bumi, positioning itself as a hotel network that prioritises eco-hotel concepts and responsible waste management.
In strategic collaboration with Rekosistem, the group aims to implement a more integrated, effective, and sustainable waste management system across its operations. Specialising in transforming waste into recyclable materials and reusable resources, Rekosistem plays a key role in ensuring the programme delivers tangible environmental impact.
The initiative introduces a structured system focused on waste segregation, recycling, and repurposing. The launch event brought together Santika’s management team, representatives from Rekosistem, hotel units across the Jabodetabek region, and members of the media, reflecting a unified industry effort towards sustainability.
A symbolic flag-off ceremony marked the official rollout, highlighted by the raising of the Santika Sahabat Bumi flag by Hugo Armand Oetama, reinforcing the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of its operations. Additional insights were shared by Prita Gero, who underscored the vital role the hospitality sector plays in advancing environmental sustainability.
In practice, the programme centres on systematic waste segregation, categorising materials such as plastics, glass, and food waste, followed by recycling and repurposing processes. Organic waste is further assessed, with suitable materials converted into compost, while contaminated waste is managed responsibly to ensure safe disposal.
For Rekosistem, the collaboration represents a shared mission to raise awareness and strengthen responsible waste management practices within the hospitality industry. Through this initiative, Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts not only enhances sustainability within its own operations but also encourages guests, partners, and the wider community to participate in environmental stewardship.
With a portfolio of 111 hotel units across Indonesia, spanning brands such as The Anvaya Beach Resorts, Hotel Santika Premiere, Hotel Santika, Kampi Hotel, Amaris Hotel, and its boutique villa collection The Samaya and The Kayana, the group continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainable tourism, supporting a greener, more responsible future for Indonesia’s hospitality industry.
