The doors of Sala Bistro have swung open at Pondok Indah Mall 5, bringing a long-awaited breath of Balinese air to the heart of Jakarta. Named after the Spanish word for “living room,” the space is a masterclass in the art of the exhale.
Teaming up with the Honu Group, Sala landed in South Jakarta this past February. The space is light and airy, offering fifty seats that spread between a cosy indoor area and an outdoor terrace overlooking the park. With an open kitchen fueling a communal energy, the restaurant sheds any corporate stiffness.
The menu served early, beginning at 8:00 AM with an all-day dining experience that blends Asian and Western influences. The morning hours feature a curated brunch selection highlighted by the Sala McMuffin, a signature dish created specifically for the Jakarta location. For lunch and dinner, the offerings expand into the main dining service, introducing a diverse range of comfort food from Bone Marrow Fried Rice, Egg Chiffon to various pastas and their signature smoky, leopard-crust pizzas. This is also when the Salmon Tartare makes its appearance as the branch’s exclusive specialty. Coffee remains a central part of the identity, sourced exclusively from Bali’s Seniman Coffee Roastery.
Whether choosing a signature blend or the decadent Mont Blanc, every cup is prepared with a level of craft that stands out from the usual city caffeine fix.
