UOB Indonesia has announced the commencement of its 14th UOB Painting of the Year (POY) competition as they invite both emerging and established artists to showcase their creative prowess. The competition is open to the public until 2 August 2024 and stands as a commitment from UOB Indonesia to continue fostering artistic growth and excellence within the ASEAN region.

This year’s theme is inspired by the acclaimed artwork ‘Chumphon Estuary’ by Thai artist Pratchaya Charernsook, winner of the 2023 UOB Southeast Asian POY. The emblem symbolises the looming threat of microplastic pollution infiltrating aquatic ecosystems, echoing the artist’s call for conservation and sustainable practices to safeguard the delicate balance of our planet’s ecosystem. This ethos aligns with UOB’s enduring commitment to shaping the future of ASEAN by fostering sustainable community development, promoting environmental stewardship, and driving economic progress across the regions where it operates.

For the regional level competition, the 14th UOB Painting of the Year Indonesia welcomes all citizens and permanent residents of Indonesia, amateurs or professionals alike, to submit their artworks from 7 May until 2 August 2024 via UOBandArt.com

With a panel of esteemed judges that includes: Melati Suryodarmo as Chair of the Jury, a renowned performance artist with two decades of experience in the local and international art scene; Dr. Agung Hujatnika, an Independent Curator and Lecturer at the Bandung Institute of Technology; Heri Pemad, the Creative Director at Sarinah Art District Jakarta and Founder of Art Bali and Art Jog, premier contemporary art events in Indonesia, this competition makes a very prestigious stepping stone for all artists to reach new heights in their career.

Winners of the 14th UOB POY Indonesia competition will be announced during an awards ceremony on 16 October 2024. The overall winner will have the opportunity to compete for the UOB Southeast Asia Painting of the Year award alongside winners from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Additionally, winners stand a chance to participate in a residency program sponsored by UOB.

The announcement of the UOB Southeast Asian Painting of the Year winners will take place on 13 November 2024 in Singapore.
