The year was 1950, and four friends from different corners of the world gathered together in Jakarta with the sole purpose of creating a platform that can provide a place for women of all nationalities to meet, foster friendships, and share ideas and experiences to better understand each other’s cultures.
The four pioneers were Mrs. Suwarni Pringgodigdo (Indonesia), Mrs. Martha Galbraith (United States of America), Mrs. Chrystal Packingham ( United Kingdom) and Mrs. Tarabaig (India), with their commitment and dedication to social causes, especially in regards to women empowerment, the Women International Club Jakarta has steadily grown to be a major and prominent secular, non-profit and non-political organization in the country. With various charity projects and endeavours, one of which is, of course, the well-renowned Annual Charity Bazaar, WIC Jakarta has cemented its place as an organization that had helped numerous charitable causes, and organisations as well as supporting small businesses and exchanges of cultures.
Now, after 73 years of continuous work with over 300 members and more than 70 honorary members, the committee of WIC Jakarta commemorates the 73rd anniversary of the organization by hosting a festive celebration held at the Dian Ballroom in Raffles Hotel Jakarta on Monday, 6 March 2023 from 11.00 AM – 03.00 PM. With the theme of “Back to the 60’s” there will be a live band performance from Nyong Anggoman & Friends, and a dance performance by Paguyuban Citra Line Dance, enticing offers of Door Prizes are also ready to make the guests’ time more exciting. Guests are advised to follow the dress code of festive and colourful to make the celebration even more fun.
