Established by Peranakan cuisine experts and restaurateurs, Kembang Goeyang brings a fresh perspective to Jakarta’s dining scene, serving familiar Peranakan flavours in a relaxed and flexible setting.
Located on the ground floor of Sarinah, Kembang Goeyang is designed for all-day dining, welcoming guests from breakfast through to lunch and dinner. The restaurant’s interiors offer a playful interpretation of Peranakan aesthetics, with white and blue setting the tone, punctuated by accents of pink, green and yellow. From patterned plates and chopsticks to menus and carefully selected tabletop details, every element contributes to its distinctive character.
Behind Kembang Goeyang is Lily Admodirdjo, a seasoned restaurateur whose decades-long career has encompassed an impressive portfolio of culinary ventures, including Waroeng Kita, Meradelima, Bunga Rampai, Kembang Goela, Suasana, Kiosk 5, Serasi, Seia, Snupen and Palalada. Across these ventures, Lily has remained committed to celebrating Indonesia’s culinary heritage, drawing inspiration from her Indonesian, Chinese and Dutch roots.

Today, her culinary legacy continues with the second generation, led by Faizal Admodirdjo, Chairman of the Board, and Carmelita Febiola M. Admodirdjo, Chief Executive Officer. At Kembang Goeyang, the family’s long-standing appreciation for Indonesia’s diverse culinary traditions is given a fresh and contemporary expression.
The name itself comes from a traditional snack that has been familiar to generations. It neatly captures the restaurant’s philosophy: bringing beloved flavours rooted in tradition to the table in a way that feels contemporary, approachable and relevant.
The same thinking extends to the menu. Rather than focusing exclusively on communal dining, Kembang Goeyang presents Indonesian Peranakan comfort food in individual portions, making it easy for guests to dine according to their own rhythm. The menu is divided into charmingly named sections, including Tjemil-Tjemilan, Roti Rotian, Kuah-Kuahan, Nasi-Nasian, Ulek-Ulekan and Hidangan Penoetoep.
Among the tempting selections is the roti bakar, a classic Indonesian toast prepared in a homestyle manner with quality ingredients and offered in several flavours. It sits comfortably alongside the restaurant’s signature coffee and teh tarik, as well as contemporary favourites such as matcha and es kopi susu gula aren.

“We intentionally made the style and presentation different. We also wanted to create a place that can appeal to different generations – not something that follows a passing trend, but something that feels right for today,” says Carmelita Febiola M. Admodirdjo.
Ultimately, Kembang Goeyang is less about reinventing Peranakan cuisine than giving it room to live naturally in the present. Familiar flavours, nostalgic touches and contemporary surroundings come together in a setting that feels equally suited to a leisurely breakfast, a casual lunch or an unhurried dinner.
Kembang Goeyang is open daily from 10am to 10pm, with extended hours from 7am to 10pm every Sunday.
