The Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF) returns to Bandung on 3–4 October 2026, marking its 11th edition with two days of jazz, special collaborations, emerging musicians and cultural programming at The Papandayan Hotel Bandung. Carrying the theme “Sound to the Soul”, this year’s festival spreads its programmes across six stages, featuring jazz, fusion and soul to contemporary music.
Since 2013, the annual festival initiated by The Papandayan Bandung and Media Group has kept musicians and audiences connected through TP Jazz Weekend, TP Jazz Universe, The Papandayan International Online Jazz Competition (TPJC), Jazz Master Class, Pasar Jazz and Podcast Resonance.
Around 70 per cent of TPJF 2026’s performers and programmes come from the jazz spectrum, covering traditional and contemporary jazz, fusion and newer genre-crossing experiments. “Maintaining the identity of jazz and expanding its audience are two things that go hand in hand,” said Bobby Renaldi, Founder of TP Jazz Management. He added that the festival’s 11th year would strengthen its jazz foundations while creating collaborations that could bring new listeners closer to the music. “For us, the continuity of jazz cannot simply be celebrated; it must continue to be introduced to new generations and new listeners.”
That idea is visible in one of the festival’s key collaborations, pairing Barry Likumahuwa with winners of The Papandayan International Online Jazz Competition. The performance brings an established Indonesian jazz musician onto the same stage as artists emerging through TP Jazz’s competition programme, turning the festival into a meeting point between different generations of players.
Several performances have been created specifically for TPJF 2026. Tribute to Koes Plus brings together Adikara, Bilal Indrajaya and Teza Sumendra as The Gentlemen’s Club, reworking songs by Koes Plus through the musical perspective of a younger generation.
Another special project, A Night of Frank Sinatra, gathers Dwiki Dharmawan, Dira Sugandi, Dirly Dave and Bandung Jazz Orchestra for new arrangements of Sinatra’s repertoire. The programme places familiar songs in the hands of Indonesian musicians and a full jazz orchestra, giving audiences another way into material that has passed through decades of jazz and popular music.
Then there is Freedom Jazz Society, featuring Greybox, Jevin Julian, Kenny Gabriel and Winky Wiryawan with Rinni. For the first time at TPJF, DJ culture will share a stage directly with jazz improvisation, creating a set shaped by electronic music, live interplay and the less predictable side of performance.
The wider line-up includes Mahalini, Ruth Sahanaya, Diskoria feat. Andien, SimakDialog, Andre Dinuth Group feat. Matthew Sayers, Batavia Collective, Rafi Sudirman, T-Five x Melly Mono, Reyharp feat. Balawan Project, Arumtala and Ambon Jazz Rock by Barry Likumahuwa, alongside other musicians and communities appearing throughout the weekend. TPJF will also present its Lifetime Achievement Award to BIMBO, recognising a career that has spanned over five decades and placed the Bandung group among the enduring names in Indonesian music.
The festival itself will spread through six areas of The Papandayan Bandung. The Kota Baru Parahyangan Stage at Suagi Grand Ballroom serves as the main stage for headline performances and special collaborations. The BRI Stage at HuruBatu Grill Garden and RON88 Stage at Cimanuk Ballroom will host jazz, fusion, soul and contemporary sets, while the TP Stage will feature educational programmes and younger musicians.
Bandung’s cultural identity also enters the programme through the Mojang Jajaka Stage at Tropical Garden, developed with the city’s Department of Culture and Tourism and Mojang Jajaka Kota Bandung. Music and cultural performances will share the space, giving the festival a distinctly local layer between the larger concert sets.
For anyone who wants a break between performances, Pasar Jazz will occupy the hotel’s parking area with food tenants, community activities, fashion, art and locally produced creative goods. It gives visitors somewhere to browse, eat and linger before heading back to the stages.
Tickets are divided into three categories. The Silver Pass, priced at Rp250,000, provides one-day access to Pasar Jazz, RON88 Stage, TP Stage, Mojang Jajaka Stage and BRI Stage. The Gold Pass costs Rp400,000 and adds access to the main Kota Baru Parahyangan Stage, while the Rp750,000 Platinum Pass covers all stages for both festival days.
