ARTOTEL Yogyakarta, the fourth property of ARTOTEL Group, opened its doors in December 2017. The grand opening was marked by a signing ceremony at the hotel location in Caturtunggal, Sleman, between ARTOTEL Group and Rasanto Group on 7 December.

“We are very grateful that Rasanto Group has entrusted its hotel to be managed by ARTOTEL Group under the ARTOTEL brand. As an art-inspired and designed hotel, it’s an honour to be located at one of the centres of Indonesian art and creativity. I hope ARTOTEL Yogyakarta can be a vessel for Yogyakarta’s emerging artists to explore and develop their art,” said Erastus Radjimin, CEO of ARTOTEL Group.

Representing Rasanto Group were Director Handoko Wignjowargo and Business Development Manager Kevin Rasanto. Following the signing ceremony was a dinner reception and party at the hotel’s ROCA Restaurant and Bar.

The work of art at the hotel is the result of a collaboration between ARTOTEL Project Series (APS) and six local artists. Renowned curator Heri Permad, also founder of the prestigious annual exhibition ART JOG, is responsible for all the art display here, where each line, shape, space, value, form, texture and colour here speaks of Javanese art in a distinctive and contemporary style but also pays homage to local wisdom. The design of ROCA Restaurant and Bar, for example, displays art elements that depict Dewi Sri, the goddess of fertility in old Indonesian folklore.

Inspired by the Javanese art of weaving, both the exterior and interior designs of the hotel feature woven elements that speak of sturdiness and beauty.

For those wishing to avoid taking the stairs, sliding is a possibility at ARTOTEL Yogyakarta. A Brass slide connects the mezanine level to lobby level, covered in gold and equipped with a thin mattress.

ARTOTEL Yogyakarta serves as a perfect place to stay and relax. From its location on Kaliurang Street, guests can also enjoy the magnificent view of Mount Merapi.

There are 105 rooms available at the hotel, in three sizes: 23 sqm, 25 sqm and 41 sqm.

Facilities at the hotel include 24-hour guest service, an outdoor swimming pool, 43-inch TV, safety deposit box, Dolce Gusto coffeemaker, mini bar and high-speed Wi-Fi connection. ARTOTEL Yogyakarta also boasts four meeting rooms with the capacity of up to 120 people. A rooftop bar is set to open this year.
