Throughout the month of October 2023, Seasonal Tastes, The Westin Jakarta’s all-day dining restaurant, presents the flavours of Argentina with ‘Asador Criollo’. Savour the flavours of the traditional Argentinian barbecue, as well as classic national dishes, at the restaurant’s nightly dinners and weekend brunches.
Argentina is renowned for its meat cuisine, and at the heart of this is the ‘Asador Criollo, a method of grilling born of the old cattle herder communities of the country. Asador involves grilling meat over an open wood fire, often whole carcasses, flayed and spread over an iron cross and positioned over the flame to cook slowly.
The slow cooking process of the asado grill melts the fat caps of less expensive parts of the meat, spreading an even taste across the different cuts; it gives way to soft tenderness and adds the unbeatable grilled flavour. The method has made Argentinian barbecued meats a delicacy across their country and around the world.
This special grill experience is being brought to the 51st floor of The Westin Jakarta, into the heart of Seasonal Tastes. Throughout the month of October, guests can savour the authentic Asador Criollo meats served up, as well as other national favourites such as ‘Pescado a la Parilla’ (grilled fish), ‘Tira de Asado‘ (beef ribs with rosemary), ‘Carbonada Criolla’ (beef shank stewed with potatoes, tomato, corn and dried apricots), ‘Salehica Parrillera’ (traditional beef sausages) and speciality desserts including ‘Alfajores‘ (crumbly biscuit stuffed with dulce) and ‘Patafrola‘ (tartlets with guava jam).
Adding to this South American culinary celebration, Seasonal Tastes will also present a special menu of wines, featuring wines from the Mendoza region of Argentina, including Intis Malbec and Norton Reserva Malbec.
