The French Embassy and the Institut français d’Indonésie (IFI) have returned to present the 27th edition of the Festival Sinema Prancis (FSP), which embodies the spirit of freedom of expression and the power of cinema to unite cultures. The festival will take place from 21 November to 2 December, 2025, across 14 cities, including here in Jakarta.
This year, FSP marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between France and Indonesia and the implementation of the Borobudur Declaration, which affirms both countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in the cultural and creative industries. Through cinema, this festival symbolises the exchange of ideas, innovation, and cross-cultural empathy.
FSP 2025 features a lineup of films that combine experienced talent and new voices, presenting stories full of emotion, creativity, and courage. A total of 20 films will be screened across the Cinema XXI network, Institut français d’Indonésie (IFI), Alliance Française (AF), and other partner locations in the country.
This edition also highlights Indonesian talent, with actress Marissa Anita as Festival Ambassador and director Joko Anwar as a special guest, strengthening the bridge of collaboration between the two worlds of cinema.

The festival opens with the premiere of Martin Bouboulon’s “13 jours 13 nuits” (13 Days 13 Nights) in eight cities simultaneously on 21 November 2025. This will be followed by the premiere of “Moon le Panda” (Moon The Panda) by renowned director Gilles de Maistre at IFI Thamrin on November 22, 2025.
In addition to these two films, FSP also highlights the spirit of Nouvelle Vague (New Wave) through the “Nouvelle Vague Afternoon” program in Jakarta on November 23. This program features the film “Nouvelle Vague” by Richard Linklater, screened in Indonesia for the first time, free of charge. This will be followed by a discussion with the Jakarta Cinema Club and a screening of “À bout de souffle” (Breathless) and other classics by Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut.
On November 24, French horror cinema takes centre stage with the premiere of Sébastien Vaniček’s “Vermines” (Infested), followed by a cross-perspective discussion on horror cinema between Vaniček and Joko Anwar.
To conclude, Cédric Klapisch’s “La Venue de l’avenir” (Colors of Time) will be screened across the IFI and AF networks on December 2. This film, along with the opening film “Partir un jour” (Leave One Day) by Amélie Bonnin, which was screened at Cannes 2025, affirms the diversity of French cinema.
FSP 2025 also features short films by SAE Indonesia students before the opening and closing films, as well as the second edition of the Indonesia–France Film Lab at JAFF Market Yogyakarta, which strengthens support for new-generation talent.

“The theme of this year’s Festival Film Prancis is ‘Novelle Vague’ or the new wave (The French New Wave) that emerged in the late 50s to the 60s. Films from the French New Wave are very insightful, especially in terms of filmmaking. One of the most memorable films, in my opinion, that will be screened at this year’s Festival Film Prancis is “Les Quatre Cents Coups” (The 400 Blows) by François Truffaut,” said Marissa Anita, Ambassador of the Festival Sinema Prancis 2025, at the FSP 2025 press conference held on November 12, 2025.
Festival Sinema Prancis will take place across these 14 cities in Indonesia: Ambon, Bandung, Denpasar, Jakarta, Lampung, Makassar, Medan, Pontianak, Purwokerto, Salatiga, Semarang, Surabaya, Surakarta, and Yogyakarta.
