The next interesting cup might not be the one you normally order. Mindbrewing 2026 gives coffee lovers a chance to spend some time with Liberica and Excelsa, through public cuppings, bar takeovers and special blends from Inspira Roasters.

Now in its third edition following gatherings in 2023 and 2024, Mindbrewing takes place across two weekends and two cities, with Bandung hosting the programme on 18–19 September 2026 before it moves to Yogyakarta on 25–26 September. Under the theme Two Weekends of Coffee, Curiosity & Connection, the programme uses tasting as a way to learn, compare and understand what makes one coffee different from another.

Liberica and Excelsa are not the varieties most people encounter in their everyday coffee orders. Tasting them side by side can be a reminder of just how much difference there can be from one coffee to another. Through the tastings and bar takeovers, participants can compare aroma, acidity and flavour, while seeing how processing can change what ends up in the cup.

The Bandung programme opened on 18 September at Monomono NOW with a Public Coffee Cupping. Six coffees were lined up for participants to taste: Liberica Boyolali Natural Mossto Process, Excelsa Wonosalam Natural Anaerob Process, Arabica Sindoro Mossto Honey JB Coffee, Liberica Palasari, Excelsa Mount Halu and Special Inspira Blend.

The afternoon continued at the bar with Rifqi Maulana, runner-up of the UK Roasting Championship 2026, serving three single-origin coffees: Liberica Boyolali, Excelsa Wonosalam and Arabica Sindoro. Their experimental fermentation processes offered another glimpse into how processing can change what comes through in the cup.

Day two brought Imam Alfaqih, a barista from Inspira Roasters Yogyakarta, to Bandung for another bar takeover. The session featured two special blends developed by the Bandung and Yogyakarta teams. Bandung Special Blend combines Excelsa Wonosalam, Arabica Mount Halu and Arabica Palasari, while Jogja Special Blend pairs Liberica Boyolali with Arabica Kerinci.

And if you missed the Bandung sessions, the story does not have to end there. Both blends are available as limited-edition drinks from 18 September to 31 October 2026 at Inspira Roasters outlets at The Gaia Hotel Bandung and GAIA Cosmo Hotel Yogyakarta.
