Malaysia Club Jakarta (MCJ) promotes the interests of Malaysian business in Indonesia while strengthening ties between the two communities through partnership.

Founded in August 1990, when Dato Abdullah Zamawi was appointed Ambassador of Malaysia to Indonesia together with Malaysian businessman, Ting Huong Sing, the Malaysia Chambers Jakarta’s main purpose is to build bridges between the Malaysian expatriate community and Indonesian business players with mutual or intersecting business interests.

While the initial idea was to set up a committee to facilitate trade and business, on 21 April 1992 at the third annual general meeting, a resolution was put forth by members and was unanimously passed changing the club’s name to Malaysia Club Jakarta. The intention of the name change was to reflect the widening scope of activities—including improving community and social relations amongst all Malaysians residing in Indonesia.

More than two decades after that, with due observance to the due process and procedures stipulated under Article IX and Article X of the MCJ Constitution, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Indonesia, His Excellency Dato Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim, as Patron of MCJ, declare and confirm with effect from 26 November 2013 the new organisation name of Malaysia Chambers Jakarta.

Effective August 2019, Jade Hwang was elected president of the MCJ. Jade is an experienced corporate lawyer, specialising in cross-border M&A, joint ventures and heads the R&P China Desk. Her regional experience includes working in ZICO Law’s Kuala Lumpur and Phnom Penh offices before she was assigned to Jakarta.

In its day-to-day capacity, MCJ’s objectives include promoting closer liaisons among the Malaysian community in Indonesia, collecting and disseminating business information in collaboration with the Malaysian Embassy, particularly the Malaysian Trade Office in Jakarta, updating and maintaining records on the particular of the Malaysian business community, professionals and other Malaysian nationals in Jakarta by the Malaysian Embassy and other Malaysian organisations in Indonesia, as well as to foster national aspirations and solidarity and provide a networking platform for business/social/cultural interactions with the international community in Indonesia and the Indonesian community while assisting the development of Malaysian business interests in Indonesia.

MCJ organises a wide range of events and activities on a regular basis, which includes, but not limited to, Monthly Members Gathering to encourage social and business interactions, Annual Family Day, Quarterly Golf Tournament, National Day Golf Tournament, National Day Sports Tournament/Embassy Function, Annual Dinner and Dance, Business Networking by Malaysia Club Business Council (MCBC).
