A life in the city can be vibrant and full of life, but it can also be daunting– especially if we have to endure the usual 9-5 work time five days a week, for months to a year. Let’s be honest with ourselves and admit that once in a while we wish the wardrobe that connects to Narnia might just be the one in our home. While that wish might be hard to come true, Taman Safari Indonesia has given us the next best thing we can have in the real world.

Opening this December, there will be a new enchanting escape just kilometres away from the city that will take you into a world of mystical forest brimming with harmony, the Enchanting Valley. Coming to impress, is their theatrical production that combines nature, art and music into a compelling storytelling called the “Music of LILA.

Helmed by Melbourne-based Creative Director Peter Wilson and the gifted Indonesian composer Elwin Hendrijanto, LILA tells the tale of a courageous young girl who discovers a mystical forest.. But when poachers threaten its tranquillity, she allies with the Forest Spirit to preserve the natural beauty of her newfound haven. This narrative, weaving themes of courage, friendship, and environmental preservation, isn’t just a story—it’s a call to action wrapped in magic.

At the heart of this production lies its music—a mesmerising score brought to life by the renowned Fames Studio Orchestra in North Macedonia. Through the wonders of modern technology, attendees of the exclusive preview event in South Jakarta were treated to a live-streamed performance of Music of LILA. Each note resonated with the essence of nature, capturing both its serene beauty and its fierce determination to survive against all odds.

Alexander Zulkarnain, Senior VP of Marketing at Taman Safari Indonesia Group, described the event as a reflection of their ongoing commitment to conservation and the arts. “We are thrilled to present something truly special with Enchanting Valley. This isn’t just entertainment—it’s a celebration of harmony between humanity and the environment,” he remarked.

The preview event itself was an intimate affair, gathering artists, conservationists, and cultural enthusiasts in one of Jakarta’s most iconic venues. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, a perfect prelude to the grand unveiling of Enchanting Valley later this month.

For those unfamiliar, Taman Safari Indonesia is much more than a recreational park. It’s a cornerstone of Indonesia’s conservation efforts, home to over 9,000 animals spanning 409 species. Since its inception in 1980, it has been at the forefront of rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing countless animals back into the wild.

With Enchanting Valley and Music of LILA, Taman Safari Indonesia continues to expand its vision—this time, by merging environmental advocacy with artistic expression. It’s a timely reminder that storytelling, when paired with creativity and purpose, can inspire change in the most beautiful ways.

For those eager to experience the magic firsthand, keep an eye on Taman Safari’s upcoming events. After all, where better to escape the chaos of daily life than a world where nature and art sing in perfect harmony?
