On 27 November 2023, the vibrant and curious 2nd-grade students from Sekolah Cikal embarked on an enriching journey to Aryaduta Menteng as part of their Field Trip Program. The hotel graciously opened its doors to these youngsters, providing them with a firsthand experience of the daily operations within a bustling hospitality environment.
The visit to Aryaduta Menteng was a captivating opportunity for the young learners to delve into the intricate workings of a hotel. From understanding the meticulous process of pastry creation to mastering the art of being a diligent housekeeper, the students were immersed in a world of hospitality that extended beyond conventional classroom learning.
Throughout the day, the students were exposed to various aspects of the hospitality industry, allowing them to observe, refresh their minds, and engage in hands-on activities. The program encompassed a diverse range of experiences, including learning table manners, trying their hand at being a receptionist, discovering the art of towel folding, and even stepping into the shoes of a butler.
Taking the students out of their familiar surroundings and immersing them in a different community was a deliberate effort to broaden their horizons. This excursion provided a unique perspective on the roles of hotel staff and fostered a deeper appreciation for the diverse skills required to operate a successful hospitality establishment.
The visit not only impacted the students but also influenced the way they perceive their teachers. Seeing educators in a different setting outside the classroom created a new dynamic, fostering a stronger connection between students and teachers. It highlighted the idea that learning extends beyond textbooks and that real-world experiences can be powerful educational tools.
Bp. Fajar Sukarno, the General Manager of Aryaduta Menteng, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the young learners. He emphasised the importance of introducing children to the world of hospitality, citing the experience as a valuable opportunity for communication and social real-world connection. Sukarno highlighted the power of positive hospitality in creating enjoyable memories and fostering a thirst for knowledge during school excursions.
