N M bloc Space 2025

After six years of pioneering creative placemaking in Indonesia, M Bloc Space unveiled its refreshed look through the Grand Launching of the ‘New Face of M Bloc Space’ on 27 October 2025.

First opened to the public in 2019, M Bloc Space transformed what was once an abandoned site belonging to Indonesia’s money printing company (PERURI) into a thriving urban destination. It stands as proof that economic vitality does not always arise from towering new developments, but can instead flourish from regenerating old spaces through design, community, music, food, and dialogue, built for and with the younger generation.

To expand its impact, M Bloc Space began a process of revitalisation and renewal in early 2025. Despite its refreshed appearance, its core vision and spirit remain unchanged: to be a dynamic destination for youth in the Blok M area of South Jakarta, and a thriving platform for creative movements, meaningful collaborations, and cultural exchange.

Under the theme Semua Kembali ke Blok M (everyone returns to Blok M), M Bloc reaffirms its commitment to reviving the Blok M district as a vibrant hub of activity, creativity, and pop culture for the younger generation, especially Gen Z.

The new M Bloc Space features expanded communal areas with entrances accessible from both the north and south sides, creating a more open and connected environment.

At its heart lies an upgraded lobby inspired by a circular ecosystem, a design that transforms every corner into a space for interaction and engagement. Gone are the dead ends; instead, the layout encourages continuous discovery, guiding visitors through a seamless experience that feels both dynamic and unified. And most importantly, this renovation is very thoughtful about being disability-friendly. Renovations extend to the existing shophouses and tenant spaces, now refreshed with a more cohesive and visually integrated look (revitalisations of the roof, floors, and building).

New pedestrian canopies on the north and south sides, including in the Wandelgang area, provide shade and shelter, strengthening M Bloc’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming public space.

Among the most exciting updates is the rebranding of the Creative Hall, born from a collaboration between M Bloc Space and Infipop, a leading digital media and youth creative ecosystem. The multifunctional venue now carries a new identity named Melting Pop, envisioned as a dynamic arena for communities and brands to connect and create. Here, exhibitions, talks, visual arts showcases, fashion designs, film screenings, and cross-disciplinary collaborations come together under one roof.

The M Bloc Live House and Creative Hall (Melting Pop) have been upgraded for acoustics, lighting, and overall comfort, elevating the experience for concerts, performances, and community gatherings alike.

By maximising land use while prioritising comfort, accessibility, and inclusivity, M Bloc Space continues to evolve as a vibrant hub of creativity and community, a place where people don’t just visit, but truly connect. The revitalised complex now features child- and family-friendly zones, accessible facilities for people with disabilities, and even a dedicated prayer room.

“M Bloc aims to make a greater impact through inclusive collaboration with various industries and ecosystems to create a stronger influence on the creative economy. From 2019 to 2025, more than 300 musicians have made their debuts, 200 local tenants have grown and developed, 500 community programmes have been implemented, and 2 million visitors have come annually. This is already an extraordinary achievement but what if we amplify this even further? These numbers reflect a real socio-economic and cultural movement, where every visitor’s step becomes part of a collective effort to strengthen Indonesia’s creative ecosystem,” said Ahmad Romero Comacho, CEO of M Bloc Space.

The new M Bloc Space is also divided into several distinct areas, each designed to spark creativity and connection. Lighthouse serves as a music and initiative space, while Koma is a multi-performance bar, offering a versatile setting for intimate gigs, stand-up comedy shows, and art exhibitions.

At the inauguration of M Bloc Space, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung described the revitalised Blok M as a creative hub for collaboration and innovation. He also said that Martha Tiahahu Literacy Park, which operates 24 hours a day, strengthens Blok M’s role as a dynamic public area, and now more accessible for residents and visitors with new TransJakarta routes connecting Blok M to Alam Sutera, PIK 2, and Ancol.

With its renewed design, inclusive spirit, and thriving creative ecosystem, the new M Bloc Space exemplifies urban regeneration and embodies how creativity can breathe new life into the city. It’s more than a space, it’s a movement where heritage and innovation meet, where ideas and people connect, and that makes everyone return to Blok M.
