After a successful debut last year, the biggest new media art exhibition ‘Wave of Tomorrow’ returns this year with more surprises, involving a number of local and international artists who will be showing their interactive works during a ten-day-long festival at the Tribrata, Dharmawangsa, Jakarta.

Conquering the whole area of the building, there are 14 local and international artists who will be showcasing installations works and a live music experience that combines technology and arts from across disciplines. The organiser, Level 7 aims to be the benchmark for the development of new media arts in Indonesia and facilitates diverse art movements into an exhibition that offers a unique experience for its audiences.

Themed “Ahead of Its Time”, the second edition of Wave of Tomorrow invites the community to experience the futuristic exhibition through its interactivity and its utilisation of technology development involving a key element of coding, robotics, kinetics, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 3D visual, mapping, music engineering and experimental stage act production.

Led by Adrian Subono as President Commissioner of Level 7, Wave of Tomorrow 2019 is curated by Mona Liem who has vast experience in new media art and Xandega Tahajuansya, the founder of Studiorama. As the last year’s exhibit hasn’t had optimally built the dialogue between new media art and music, two curators from different backgrounds this year are expected to produce a merging collective collaboration between those two disciplines.

Sembilan Matahari, Rubi Roesli, Maika, Kinara Darma x Modulight, U Visual, Motionbeast, Notanlab, Farhanaz are among the diverse creators who will show their new works at the Wave of Tomorrow 2019. On his debut at the new media art festival, Rubi Roesli, the Indonesia architect will redefine its architecture approach though the String Composition Project Series that previously exhibited at Bintaro Design District 2019. Adi Panuntun and his team at Sembilan Matahari also will fuse more multiple art disciplines to create their latest installation Rhyme which highlights kinetic works and echo of the sound. Popularly known from its video mapping, Sembilan Matahari keeps showing progressive works since their works Constellation Neverland last year has attracted the most crowd.

The works from Nonotak, Tundra, and Ouchh are expected to be the central point of the exhibition. Tundra, Saint Petersburg based art collective will create audio-visual installation works, Ouchh will appear with a massive installation called Data Gate and French-based new media art duo of Noemi Schipfer and Takami Nakamoto represented Nonotak will create long alley with lighting sequence which is expected to provide a distinctive experience for the visitor who comes by at the festival from 20 to 29 December.

The performance will involve the renowned name including Kunto Aji, Danilla, Petra Sihombing, Eva Celia, Sunmatra, Dekadenz, Random Brothers and many more. The creative set up of the stage will be collaborative works that involve a number of new media artists across disciplines, sound engineers, art lighting, and unique stage production.
