Good food is a fine reason to book a dinner out, but a little art and a few puzzles make the evening more interesting. Starting 23 October 2026, Sea Grain Restaurant & Bar at DoubleTree by Hilton Jakarta – Diponegoro introduces ‘7 Paintings’, an immersive dining experience that pairs a seven-course meal with art, storytelling and puzzles, inviting diners to do more than simply enjoy the food.
The 2.5-hour experience takes diners through the worlds of seven artists and artistic movements, with each course accompanied by music, theatrical storytelling and 3D projection mapping. The action does not stop at the dining table, either, Sea Grain’s third-floor space also becomes part of the show. Guests also get to try their hand at painting and solving riddles, with everyone invited to contribute to the final masterpiece.
The menu has some interesting artistic references to unpack. Michelangelo inspires the opening course, a tomato praline tucked into a sesame tart shell. Banksy, Pablo Picasso’s Cubism, Jackson Pollock’s Action Painting and Andy Warhol each influence the courses that follow, before Salvador Dalí brings Surrealism into the mix. For the finale, Vincent van Gogh provides the inspiration for a chocolate painting assembled tableside, accompanied by citrus cake and three sauces.
Executive Chef Zulkarnain has designed each dish to complement its artistic inspiration, with careful attention to flavour, texture and presentation. Vegetarian diners can enjoy the same seven-course experience, with alternatives such as tomato carpaccio with tofu and balsamic pearls and grilled mushroom with couscous. A Kids Menu is available for younger diners.
The Classic Menu costs IDR 1,500,000 net per person, while the Vegetarian Menu is priced at IDR 1,300,000 and the Kids Menu at IDR 750,000. Drinks are charged separately, with options including a four-glass wine pairing, a Negroni welcome drink and the non-alcoholic Rosella Citrus Cooler.
Shows run every Friday and Saturday at 7pm, starting 23 October. Reservations are required, and arriving 15 minutes early is recommended.
