From 23 to 28 April , Jakarta will welcome Art Jakarta Gardens 2024, welcoming the third edition of one of the city’s most most prominent art experiences. Discover an array of mesmerising contemporary art, set up amidst the lush greenery of Hutan Kota by Plataran.
Art Jakarta Gardens has flourished into a celebrated annual event, thanks to the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the city’s art industry and enthusiasts. This year, 23 notable galleries alongside 30 captivating outdoor sculptures and installations offer visitors an experience seamlessly blending art and nature.
This year, Art Jakarta Gardens promises to establish a stronger presence as it continues to attract a wider audience. Featuring its signature programme, the Sculpture Garden will exhibit works from outstanding artists across generations. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of creativity, exploring a wealth of artistic expressions against the backdrop of Jakarta’s urban oasis, where Hutan Kota by Plataran will be transformed into a dynamic open-air gallery.
Participating galleries and partners collaborating with artists take part with great enthusiasm, enriching the event with a variation of art performances and installations. Partners will present artists from different fields, each presenting their own sculptures, installations, experiences or performances.
An inflatable sculpture inspired by nature, a photography exhibition in a unique outdoor setting and an interactive spatial sound installation reflecting our digital age are just some of the admirable collaborations established with partners and artists. Additionally, an eye-opening performance art and special music performance will enrich visitor’s experience during their excursion in the gardens.
Fair Director Tom Tandio hopes to contribute to the opportunity for young people to learn and be more appreciative of art. During the event, young visitors are invited to get to know art in less formal surroundings and perhaps even start their own journey of collecting. While featuring a diverse array of artworks in indoor and outdoor settings, the open-air fair invites public to appreciate how artworks can enhance their surroundings. Enlivening the art scene, Art Jakarta Gardens is becoming part of an art ecosystem to look forward to.
