Curate is Asia’s first Michelin Chef showcase restaurant, which opened in April2016, and is home to Art at Curate, a series of culinary pop-up events featuring specially selected Michelin-starred chefs in partnership with Michelin Guide Singapore and Robert Parker Wine Advokate. Through this event, epicureans have the opportunity to indulge in Michelin-starred cuisine without having to travel around the world.

The inaugural Art at Curate, held from April 29th to May 6th,featured three-star Italian Michelin Chef Massimiliano Alajmo who received his three Michelin stars when he was just 28 years old, making him the youngest chef to achieve the highly coveted distinction. Well-known for his multi-sensory approach to cooking and a penchant for exploring ingredients in depth to bring out their true essence and flavours, Chef Alajmo has a creative laboratory and culinary research centre within La Calandre, his family restaurant in Northern, Italy. His dishes capture all senses, in particular the most evocative sense of smell.

According to Chef Alajmo, Singapore is home to one of the world’s most dynamic food scenes which he was happy to explore further during his short stint in Singapore. At the same time, he presented his own culinary concept and shared both classic dishes from Le Calandre and his latest creations to an enthusiastic Singapore crowd.

From July 8th to 15th, the second event in the series saw two-star Michelin Chef Guy Martin taking the helm at Curate. Chef Martin’s style is modern, sensuous and bold and puts an emphasis on high-quality produce from various regions of France. The acclaimed chef has authored more than 20 cookbooks throughout his career and also hosted a television programme.

Three-star Michelin Chef Esben Holmboe Bang was the third chef to participate in Art at Curate from September 16th to 25th. Head chef, co-owner and creative force behind Maaemo, the groundbreaking restaurant from Oslo, Norway that was awarded three Michelin Stars in 2016, Chef Esben was named one of the “100 Most Influential Chefs in the World” by TIME magazine.

Closing the event series for this year was Chef Ramon Freixa, who was in Singapore between November 4th and 11th, the Spanish chef can look back on a culinary career spanning more than 20 years. Acclaimed for his culinary approach that blends tradition, sophistication and innovation, Chef Ramons’ passion for cutting edge techniques as well as daring and playful ideas have earned Ramon Freixa Madrid – his fine-dining establishment – One Michelin Star in 2009, followed by Two Michelin Stars in 2010 which he continues to maintain until today.

Curate will present further editions of Art at Curate throughout next year, featuring modern European cuisines through a remarkable line-up of Michelin-starred chefs around the world. During each edition, the chefs will also team up with a resident chef to create a signature menu.
