Most wine bars are synonymous with a formal and high-end atmosphere, taking sophistication to the next level. The newly opened GLOU Wine & Bistro offers something a little different, a place to enjoy wine with relaxed surroundings, a cool and casual space where people can chat, unwind and loosen up while sipping their favourite.

Nestled on Wijaya Street, Kebayoran Baru, GLOU Wine & Bistro makes for a perfect destination for those who want to spend an afternoon meal or a Sunday morning brunch with friends and family. When you enter the restaurant, the interiors reflect the warmth of a friend’s home – welcoming, cosy and homey.

GLOU’s wine cellar at the restaurant entrance is proof that they mean business when it comes to wine selections. Every bottle is carefully curated and handpicked to offer a diverse range of options, from velvety reds to crisp whites and everything in between. The restaurant’s sommelier is ready to guide and service guests to find the right wine that matches perfectly with the food served and the occasion.

The interior is a unique cohesion of mismatched chairs and tables underneath walls of paintings, vibrant, contemporary and cosy, the atmosphere reflects the casual comfort of your modern bistro. At the back of the restaurant there’s also an open smoking area with a skylight. A bar across the outdoor lounge is ready to serve any type of drinks, from mocktails to their signature cocktails.

Those who are adventurous with their palate will love their Cabe Gendot Margarita, the blend of espolon tequila with orange liquor, citric solution and cabe gendot tincture that adds a kick of spice. For a milder option, try their Ms. Elderberry with gin, elderberry, mint and prosecco for a refreshing and light drink to accompany your food.

GLOU Wine and Bistro have managed to guarantee their quality with their line of scrumptious and lavish dishes. Headed by celebrity chef Renatta Moeloek, the menu is a list of classic French cuisine with fresh ingredients and utilising the best of local produce, boasting its French heritage and Indonesian goods.

Start your meal with the delectable Baked Camembert served with rosemary and thyme oil, chilli flake and toasted bread, this is a warm and light dish to open your appetite. The must-have appetiser is their Bone Marrow Escargots, the taste of escargots coated in herbs and anchovy butter scooped with the marrow is a burst of flavours in your mouth. Their Fish Meunière is a whole flat fish pan seared with herb butter, lemon and pickled green Pontianak chilli, a unique Indonesian touch on a classic French dish. There’s a whole variety of high-quality beef from the grill that will fill the steak lovers to the brim, served with choices of sauce from Onion and Balsamic, Bogor Green Peppercorn to Kulat Mushroom.

End your meal on a sweet note with the classic Strawberries and Crème Fraîche, brown butter genoise with vanilla gelato and whipped 12-hour fermented cream, topped with fresh strawberries. Or opt for something less sweet like the Dark Chocolate and EVOO, a dark chocolate and extra virgin olive oil brownie, dark chocolate sorbet, sea salt, cacao nibs.
