Showcasing a new look, Gran Melia’s iconic Chinese restaurant Tien Chao welcomes guests to return to experience an exquisite journey through the flavours of authentic Cantonese cuisine, masterfully curated by their new highly skilled Chef hailing from China. 

The rejuvenated Tien Chao presents a timeless atmosphere, where selective renovations and furnishings showcase a modern design aesthetic with bold Chinese notes and accoutrements, with royal blue and golden colour schemes that add a contemporary vibrance to the interiors. The 101-seat-capacity restaurant offers thoughtfully arranged seating conducive for family meals and business gatherings.

Adding to the excitement is the arrival of the new Chinese culinary maestro, Chef Walden Qiang Wei, who brings an authentic taste of China to Jakarta. Chef Walden makes his overseas debut overseas at Tien Chao. With more than 30-year experience, he commits to delivering his expertise in cooking that showcases the true essence of Chinese cuisine, with a special focus on the artistry of Cantonese food. 

“I’m here to enchant a diverse array of taste buds by presenting authentic Chinese culinary delights from the mainland, catering to both locals and international guest,” Chef Walden explains.

Starting the dining journey, Chef Walden invites the guests to indulge in his Cantonese specialties, such as Braised Beef Tendon in Five Spices, Poached Chicken with Ginger Dipping, Spinach Salad with Peanuts. For a special soup, Chef Walden presents the Chicken Soup with Conpoy and Tricholoma Matsutake where guests can taste the rich flavours of spices and ingredients in one bowl. 

On the main course session, guests can savour Steamed Boston Lobster with Garlic and Glass Noodles, Steamed Grouper with Black Soy Bean Sauce, Braised Chicken with Abalone, Steamed Sea Scallop with Sichuan Chopped Chilli, Wok Fried Beef Cube with Wild Mushroom, Steamed Baby Cabbage with Salted Egg and WolfBerry in Superior Stick, and Wok Fried Rice with Mixed Seafood and Vegetable.

Giving a highlight of the Indonesian ingredient, Chef Walden presents Steamed Sliced Chicken with Shrimp Paste and Zucchini. Guests can enjoy the tender chicken meat which is overnight marinated with Indonesian shrimp paste. 

And, the Sweetened Lotus Nut Soup with Snow Fungus and Mini Glutinous Ball is a sweet treat for guests to try from the dessert selection of Tien Chao.

Ensuring that more guests can savour the delectable flavours and enjoy its best promotions, the restaurant offers Dim Sum Brunch every Sunday, from 10am to 3:30pm, priced at IDR 348,000++ per person including Chinese tea. Guests can also experience the Peking Duck Carving Delight by the Table every Monday, from 5.30pm to 10:00pm, priced at IDR 298,00++ for Half Duck and IDR 458,000++ for Whole Duck.
