After overwhelming success in Hong Kong and Bali, the PTT Family recently introduced its authentic Indonesian dining concept Kaum in Jakarta through a popup event held at Attarine restaurant.

The concept of Kaum, which literally translates as “clan” or “tribe”, is inspired by the more than 600 ethnic groups that call Indonesia their home. Determined to introduce the archipelago’s rich heritage on an international stage, the masterminds behind Kaum have meticulously researched and explored the culinary wonders of the archipelago’s indigenous tribes and transformed it into a unique dining experience.

Working together with remote communities and local producers, Kaum takes diners on an exceptional journey through the archipelago by reintroducing rare and forgotten cooking techniques.

The first outlet of Kaum opened in Hong Kong in May 2016, followed by a second one at Potato Head Beach Club Bali a couple of months later. The third outlet is scheduled to open in May 2017 in Menteng, Central Jakarta, not only as a restaurant, but also as a hub for the team for further research and the development of new menus.

“Kaum embodies our vision and commitment to showcase the best of Indonesia’s culinary origins to the world,” said Ronald Akili, CEO of PTT Family. “Our team has excelled in presenting our country’s remarkable culinary heritage to a global audience in Hong Kong and Bali, and we are excited to introduce Kaum to the country’s capital and to our guests in Jakarta.”
