Watching a child learn something for the first time can be surprisingly rewarding. It might be the moment they finally solve a tricky problem, find the confidence to speak up or discover an interest they cannot stop talking about. Small as these moments may seem, they are part of how children develop the skills, confidence and independence that will stay with them as they grow.
At Sinarmas World Academy (SWA), these early experiences are an important part of BEST Foundations®, a signature programme exclusive to the school that combines academic learning with character development and practical skills from an early age. Designed for Elementary School students, the programme builds on foundations introduced during Early Years. This allows children to develop their knowledge and abilities gradually as they progress through school.
Textbooks are just one part of the learning experience. Supported by the internationally recognised Cambridge curriculum and IB framework, students explore ideas through projects, technology, arts, sports and collaborative activities. They are encouraged to ask questions, exchange ideas, experiment and tackle problems. These activities help connect classroom lessons with experiences in their everyday lives.
Business, Economy, Science and Technology are the four key areas woven into BEST Foundations®. Students explore these fields through activities suited to their age. They learn how businesses function and economies develop, investigate scientific concepts and experiment with technology. Each area offers a different way to understand the world and encourages children to ask questions, think independently and explore ideas with confidence.
The journey starts in Early Years, where exploration and discovery play an important part in everyday learning. Children are encouraged to investigate their surroundings, try new things and express their ideas in a safe, supportive environment. As they move into Elementary School, they begin to take on more complex tasks. They learn to think critically, communicate their thoughts, collaborate with classmates and take greater responsibility for their learning.
Every child also has different interests and strengths, which is why SWA places importance on personalised learning. Within its multicultural environment, students have opportunities to explore different subjects and activities. This helps them recognise what they enjoy and develop their individual abilities.
