As part of an ongoing commitment to community empowerment and social responsibility, 25hours Hotel Jakarta The Oddbird – together with COPA and in collaboration with AIA (Association Ibero-American in Jakarta) – will host a special cooking class for 20 children from Pondok Taruna Orphanage on Saturday, 18 October 2025, from 2 to 5 PM.
Founded in 1993 by Loudy and Liu Posumah, Pondok Taruna Orphanage was created to provide underprivileged and orphaned children with safe housing, nutritious meals, education, and holistic support for their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual development. Today, the orphanage is home to 106 children aged 1 to 24. Although eight youths are currently pursuing university education, while others are preparing for vocational training or higher studies, it still faces challenges in securing scholarships and donations to sustain daily needs.
The program is part of 25hours Hotel Jakarta The Oddbird’s CSR initiatives, designed to create opportunities for underprivileged children to learn, explore, and grow through meaningful experiences. At COPA, the children will not only try their hand at cooking but also step behind the scenes of a professional hotel kitchen, guided directly by the chefs and culinary team. The afternoon promises to be both educational and inspiring, showing the children how teamwork, creativity, and passion come together in hospitality.
“This collaboration is very close to our hearts. Together with AIA and Pondok Taruna, we want to create a space where can dream and discover new possibilities for their future,” said Jesper Soerensen, General Manager 25hours Hotel Jakarta The Oddbird. “It’s about more than cooking, it’s about confidence, curiosity, and giving them memories they’ll carry with them.”
The cooking class is more than just an activity; it’s a symbol of collaboration. By joining hands, 25hours Hotel Jakarta The Oddbird, COPA, and AIA affirm a shared commitment to give back to the community and empower the younger generation. In opening doors to new experiences, the program underscores the importance of partnership in creating real impact for children who deserve brighter opportunities.
