Indonesia Design Week (IDW), the flagship event of Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2, celebrates the world of design from 12 to 20 September 2025. As Indonesia’s largest design and furniture centre, IDD’s vision is to catalyse IDW 2025 beyond a commercial retail destination into an inclusive hotspot for designers, architects, and creative communities at large.

IDW 2025 comes with the theme “Ideantity”: a term that represents both idea and identity, reflecting Indonesia’s growing role as a contributor in the global design conversation. Just as cities like Milan, London, and Tokyo have built lasting legacies through their design weeks, IDW offers a fresh perspective shaped by its regional context, cultural diversity, and openness to global dialogue.

Together with Indonesia Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD), Emporium Marble, and Saniharto, IDW presents ICAD By The Bay, showcasing works by more than 60 artists across art, design, and fashion. A special highlight is the collaboration between Saniharto and Ghea Fashion Studio, presenting a home collection that blends heritage craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. Finally, at Mandapa, visitors can explore Artisan Alley, a craft and design marketplace featuring 51 artists and artisan brands.

Meanwhile, Townhall brings together a series of collaborations and cross-disciplinary showcases. Featured projects include SMEG x Museum Macan, KOHLER interactive installations, AHEC x Studio Hendro, Viro x Tulola, Mamagreen, Manawa Lighting Installation, IMPAX Sustainability Project installations, and the signature Millimeter Manifesto exhibition, highlighting the works of nine Indonesian product designers.

Beyond brand-driven joint ventures, IDW provides a platform for local designers and creative collectives to present exhibitions that express identity, ignite dialogue, and push conventional boundaries. A lineup of signature programs such as Industry Roundtables and Design Dialogs hosted by Design Anthology held in Market Hall invite visitors to learn about global design and participate in its creative future.

This year, IDW 2025 highlights several key presences, particularly that of Marva Griffin, Founder of SaloneSatellite, who shares her insights of global design landscape, themed “Inequalities: Design for a Better Life”. Her participation at IDW is part of Italian Design Week, which is fully supported by the Embassy of Italy, Italian Trade Agency, and Istituto Italiano di CulturaAlso attending is Laura Kohler, Chief Sustainability & DEI Officer of Kohler Co., adding her expertise to the festival’s sustainability focus.

To further engage the next generation of designers, IDW hosts guided insight tours open to design firms, creative communities, and university students. Additionally, a dedicated student exhibition spotlights emerging talent by showcasing innovative projects that reflect bold ideas, experimental approaches, and fresh perspectives on design and creativity.

As part of its programming, IDW 2025 is proud to support meaningful causes. At the Sip & Tip event hosted by Bika & Friends, designers and brand owners serve food and drinks, with all tips going directly to communities in need. Additionally, social initiatives like the Bedah Rumah program have IDD tenants such as Toto, Juno, Bika, and Sleep & Co contributing by donating furniture.

Adding to the excitement, the office chair racing competition Firm Office Grand Prix returns to IDW 2025 for the second time. In addition, the festival introduces a sports and wellness clubhouse at Market Hall, designed by the creative duo Bobos and Dzha, featuring a padel court, transforming the space into a dynamic playground that blends creativity, sport, and contemporary lifestyle.

Supported by esteemed organisations like the Ministry of Creative Economy, banking partners like BNI, sponsors like Snaidero, Smeg, Kohler and Bosch, and media partners including Design Anthology, Dezeen, Indonesia Design, Archinesia, and MRA Group, Indonesia Design Week reflects a strong collective commitment to elevating Indonesia’s design standards and fostering sustainable industry growth.

From immersive exhibitions to hands-on workshops and insightful conversations with industry leaders, IDW is all about making design accessible, engaging, and inspiring for a wider audience. In line with this vision, it serves as a platform that brings together local and international perspectives, highlighting how design functions as a universal language that connects ideas, communities, and cultures across borders.
