With episodes watched by millions across the country, university student David Goh was recently one of the contenders on an Indonesian academic game show, battling against top students from across the country. How did he get there? David credits his guided educational journey at Sinarmas World Academy – specifically their proprietary BEST Pathways® programme – for opening doors and preparing him for national competitions.
Now attending Imperial College London, one of the world’s most prestigious STEM institutions, there was never any doubt in David’s academic ability. He particularly excelled in mathematics and science, something that was recognised and fostered by his school, leading him to win a Gold medal at the National Science Olympiad, followed by his historic triple Gold medals and Overall Championship trophy at the International Teenagers Mathematics Olympiad (ITMO).
Recognising students’ talents and creating personalised educational journeys is a proud offering of Sinarmas World Academy, and is indeed at the heart of the school’s BEST Pathways® programme. David says that it was SWA’s BEST Pathways® programme in particular that has helped him on his academic journey, both in competitions and in getting into a top UK university.

BEST Pathways® is more than just a programme, it’s best described as a personal blueprint that ensures appropriate and necessary individual skill development, career subject-focused specialisation and the extracurricular experiences to support and foster this. It’s been designed as the ultimate tool for educational progression, helping students both identify their next destination, and then making sure they are put on the best ‘path’ to get there.
“BEST Pathways® became my competitive advantage,” David shares with NOW! Jakarta. “Because it helped me focus on science and technology early on, which made me a standout candidate for Imperial College London,” David reflects. He also credits the school’s educational style in being a key aspect of his own development. “SWA was where I grew academically and personally. I was encouraged to understand instead of memorising, become a leader, and win competitions,” he shares with NOW! Jakarta.
The skills and knowledge he developed at SWA has not only helped him at school and university, they were critical for the many academic competitions he has taken part in, especially the most recent, highly-televised gameshow, ‘Clash of Champions.’ The show is an exciting, academic competition bringing top students together in a battle of their knowledge and thinking, with each episode watched. Contenders were tasked in a variety of unique maths, logic, problem-solving and spatial reasoning challenges.

David joined Season 2 of Clash of Champions, which aired mid-2025. His maths prowess and quick problem-solving under pressure made him a formidable contender, and a fan favourite from the very first episode. He truly put SWA’s teachings to the test.
Every child or student has potential, but not everyone has a blueprint. SWA’s BEST Pathways® is what sets this academic organisation apart from other international schools in Jakarta, a programme that turns ambition into strategy and strategy into success – David’s journey is a great example of just that.
