The Westin Jakarta’s culinary team has a new leader as Luca Carrino joins the hotel as Executive Chef, whose career spans Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hotels across Europe, Southeast Asia, North Asia, and the Middle East. Now based in Jakarta, Carrino oversees the hotel’s culinary operations across its collection of restaurants and lounges, including Seasonal Tastes, Henshin, Daily Treats, Champagne Lounge, the Westin Club Lounge, as well as the banquet team responsible for the hotel’s meetings, celebrations, and large-scale events.
Most recently, Carrino served as Executive Sous Chef at Mandarin Oriental Taipei, after holding the same position at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. Earlier, he was part of the culinary leadership team at Shangri-La Dubai. Years spent working across different regions have broadened his perspective, but Italy remains the foundation of his cooking.
“I am excited to be in Jakarta, a city I have wanted to work in since my first visit years ago,” he said. “I was truly impressed by the rich flavors, vibrant culture and especially the warmth of the people.
