The Jakarta International Coffee Conference (JICC) 2025 opened at the AA Maramis Building on 6 November, bringing the country’s coffee community into one shared space where industry influence, creative ideas, and global interest converge. Once a modest industry meet-up, the conference now stands as a major regional gathering that attracts leaders, practitioners, and collaborators from across Indonesia and overseas. This year’s programme continues to receive full backing from the Jakarta Provincial Government’s Department of Tourism and Creative Economy (Disparekraf), reflecting the administration’s ongoing focus on strengthening the city’s creative economy and supporting sectors rooted in local culture.
Carrying the theme “Thriving Coffee Country”, the conference positions itself as a living forum reflecting the momentum of Indonesia’s coffee landscape, an ecosystem that continues to expand through innovation, collaboration, and a growing global presence. The opening remarks from Disparekraf highlighted the government’s determination to cultivate creative industries rooted in local heritage, with coffee standing as one of the nation’s most recognisable cultural assets.

Rizqi Alkautsar, Chairman of the Organising Committee of JICC 2025, described the conference as a meeting point for ideas in constant motion. “The coffee industry never stands still. From farmers to brewers, every contributor shapes its future. JICC brings these voices together in a shared space for collaboration,” he said, capturing the spirit driving this year’s programme.
The opening day drew a diverse audience of association leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, and coffee enthusiasts. The exhibition floor features forty-nine tenants showcasing a blend of new brewing technologies, locally driven collaborations, and interactive experiences designed to highlight the depth of Indonesia’s regional coffee expressions.
Across its three-day duration, JICC presents a curated programme designed to enrich the experience of both professionals and casual enthusiasts. The conference features a series of inspiring talks led by coffee experts and local changemakers, each delving into value chains, emerging industry trends, and the growing opportunities for Indonesian coffee in global markets. Alongside these sessions, the Interactive Academy offers a hands-on learning space where participants can brew, taste, and explore the delicate balance of flavours that define Indonesia’s diverse coffee profiles.

Barista creativity also takes centre stage through the Latte Art Competition, where precision and artistry meet in every cup. Complementing this is the annual SCAI Awards, hosted by the Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia, which recognise the outstanding individuals and innovators who have shaped the national coffee industry over the past year. The Marketplace area invites visitors to discover a wide range of brands, tools, and stories from producers across the archipelago, while Soundpresso adds a more relaxed dimension to the event with music performances inspired by coffee culture, featuring acts such as Float, Mocca, Diskoria, Sajama Cut, and other notable musicians.
The energy surrounding JICC 2025 suggests a broader shift in how Indonesian coffee asserts itself on the global stage. By strengthening networks and fostering collaboration, the conference demonstrates how a local heritage product can evolve through creativity and shared vision.
