Located in Magelang, the heart of Central Java, sprawling over an expansive 22-hectare property, MesaStila Resort and Spa presents a destination steeped in natural beauty, history and authentic Javanese hospitality. Encompassing lush gardens and coffee plantations, all ensconced by the majestic mountains of Java, this tasteful retreat offers an escape into Indonesia’s countryside.

Featuring a real colonial railway station and historic joglo villas, MesaStila Resort and Spa transports their guests into a bygone era. Each accommodation is unique, the timeless wooden houses individually decorated with charming art collections and antique furniture that pays homage to Javanese roots. The property is also proud of their four types of sunken bathtubs in all categories of villas, made of Copper, Blue Mosaic, Javanese Tiles and Volcanic Stone.

From mountain views to panoramas of the plantation, each villa invites guests to fully appreciate the environment, best enjoyed on the balcony with a steaming cup of local coffee or tea. Something uniquely offered by MesaStila is that they allow guests to stay different villas of same category during their stay, as to afford the opportunity to appreciate the different views, and indeed the bespoke art and layout. This is contingent on room availability, of course.

Also housed in traditional joglos are the two dining venues of MesaStila Resort, Java Red and Java Green. The cuisine at both of these venues brings the land to the table, utilising local and organic produce, some form the resort’s own gardens. At Java Red, this is served as authentic Javanese offerings, whereby the entire kitchen team was encouraged to find famous recipes from their local village; Java Green is health-focused, harnessing the local produce for fresh, hearty Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

Not to be missed is a drink at the Plantation Lounge, a charming and classic venue that was once the old colonial coffee plantation warehouse. Refurbished and reimagined, it has become a place for sundowners, evening tipples, games and gathering.
