NAS Jakarta's Secondary School Groundbreaking

A milestone expansion transforms NAS Jakarta into a continuum campus, preparing students for their next stage in life.

Energy filled the campus at Nord Anglia School Jakarta (NAS Jakarta) as the first shovels struck the ground, marking the beginning of a new chapter in secondary education. Principal Rosie Clark stood with Nord Anglia School regional representative Thomas Kai, parent ambassador Yoko Oshima, long serving families, and representatives from the local community and government, while teachers, staff, and students gathered to witness this milestone moment.

The groundbreaking ceremony of NAS Jakarta’s secondary school symbolised resilience after years of challenge. The school had navigated two years of online learning during the pandemic, rebuilt through recovery, and secured licensing to expand their education offerings. The moment stood as collective achievement, shaped by the dedication of teachers, the trust of parents, and the adaptability of students.

From that foundation, the secondary block will soon rise on campus, representing the next step forward. Within it, purpose-built facilities — a science lab, art and design studio, reading and study space, student social area, and dedicated lower secondary classrooms — have been designed to provide older learners with the apt environment to think critically, work creatively, and grow with confidence. Families familiar with the school’s pool facilities will recognise the same attention to detail in design and safety, now extending to the upcoming academic and social spaces.

NAS Jakarta’s expansion signals a purposeful step in the school’s evolution, designed to guide students seamlessly into secondary learning. In the upper primary years, independence is fostered through specialist-led rotations that strengthen organisation, adaptability, and resilience. By Year 7, learners are already accustomed to structured routines and specialist teaching, prepared to take greater ownership of their studies while knowing support remains close. This progression embodies the school’s “Year 7 ready” philosophy—an approach that balances growing autonomy with the reassurance of a secure, close-knit environment.

As students grow confident under specialist instruction and structured routines, the campus itself continues to evolve: a smaller, personalised environment in a residential hub makes values-driven international education more accessible and reduces commutes for older learners. “Today’s milestone brings us closer to welcoming our first secondary cohort in the 2026–2027 academic year,” Ms. Clark affirmed, underscoring the school’s place within a global education network.

At the heart of this growth is community, where teachers collaborate closely, parents contribute through workshops and ambassador roles, and students thrive within a circle of shared support. As the secondary programme unfolds, it will carry forward NAS Jakarta’s six values—respect, resilience, global citizenship, collaboration, curiosity, and creativity—while preserving the personalised, close-knit culture families treasure on the campus.

The closing moments of the ceremony turned the spotlight fully onto the students, capturing a rare blend of belonging and aspiration. It marked a passage of confidence: children moving steadily into adolescence, guided by teachers who understand their path and strengthened by friendships they trust. Around them, new learning spaces are taking shape, each designed as a canvas for discovery and growth, ready to hold the next chapter in NAS Jakarta’s evolving story.
