
As a business and holiday destination, Novotel Tangerang has continuously promoted its concern for the environment. Starting from collaborating with related parties for activities like planting trees and cleaning beaches, its latest initiative is the building of a garden in the hotel area.
The garden is located in the Sky Garden area on the upper floor of the hotel building and is quite spacious. As a consistent first step in spite of the initial quantity, the plants grown in the garden are diverse and beneficial to the hotel, including bok choy, tomatoes, eggplants, chillies, lettuce and grapes.
Moreover, the garden also serves as an educational tool for guests staying at the hotel, showing them that the vegetables commonly used at home can be grown themselves and do not require a large area. Additionally, having a garden is believed to maintain the quality of food products at Novotel Tangerang.


“By growing our own vegetables, we can save money and also reduce carbon emissions, because plants are very good for the air quality around us,” explained Windiarto, General Manager of Novotel Tangerang. “We grow our own vegetables, do not use pesticides, and care for the plants from seed to harvest, so we know their quality and suitability,” he emphasised.
With this breakthrough, Novotel Tangerang hopes that this can serve as an example for business units everywhere as a commitment to protecting the surrounding environment.
