BINUS SCHOOL Simprug has been named Champion in the EDU FOR GOOD category at the Brands For Good Awards 2026, recognising its work in connecting academic learning with social and environmental action. The award distinguishes BINUS SCHOOL Simprug as one of the international institutions advancing an educational approach that equips students to address real-world challenges, support their communities and apply those values beyond graduation.
The Brands For Good Awards recognise organisations that combine strong leadership and organisational performance with measurable contributions to society and the environment. Around 110 brands from over 25 countries participated in the 2026 programme, which concluded with the “Together For Good” gala at D’Marquee @ Downtown East in Singapore.
Held in collaboration with the Singapore International Mastery Contests Center and the Singapore University of Social Sciences, this year’s programme introduced EDU FOR GOOD as a new award category. It focuses on schools that embed social responsibility within education rather than treating community work as a separate activity.
For BINUS SCHOOL Simprug, the Champion title reflects an approach developed across different stages of school life. Students in the Primary Years Programme are encouraged to connect classroom inquiry with responsible action. Parents contribute professional knowledge and wider perspectives, while alumni continue to apply the values and leadership skills developed at school within their industries and communities.
The results can be seen across several student-led projects. Students Serena and Meagan developed NAVCANE, an assistive navigation device that integrates artificial intelligence to support people with visual impairments. The project began with an identified accessibility challenge and progressed into a potential real-world solution. NAVCANE was later selected for the IB Global Youth Action Fund, giving the students further support to develop the idea.
The school’s Primary Years Programme Exhibition also asks Grade 5 students to study a social or environmental issue before deciding how to respond. Over 25 weeks, nine student groups examined poverty, housing, deforestation, food waste, clean energy and ocean pollution. Their research led to projects that included teaching English to underserved students, building a solar-powered charging station, growing vegetables, composting food waste and planting trees and mangroves. The process required students to understand the causes and consequences of each issue before proposing an action.
Another initiative brought 11 BINUS SCHOOL Simprug students to Sumba, where they worked with Happy Hearts Indonesia to improve facilities at PAUD Sumber Kasih. The project rebuilt two classrooms and provided sanitation facilities, educational materials and an outdoor playground for young learners. Construction repurposed 2.2 tonnes of plastic waste, and the work forms part of a wider programme supporting over 140 children at two early childhood education schools in the region.
The school also points to alumnus Brandon Limbono as an example of how its approach can continue after graduation. His professional journey shows how interdisciplinary thinking, social awareness and leadership developed during school can later influence decisions in business and industry.

The award gives BINUS SCHOOL Simprug an international benchmark for an educational model that links knowledge, character and community participation. It also sets the direction for the school’s next chapter, which is to help developing students who can investigate complex challenges, design informed responses and carry that capacity into their future professions and communities.
