Art takes over Jakarta once again as Art Jakarta returns for its 2026 edition from 2 to 4 October at JIExpo Kemayoran. With galleries and artists from Indonesia and across Southeast Asia, this year’s fair brings together a diverse mix of contemporary works, creative collaborations and fresh perspectives.
Following Art Jakarta Papers and Art Jakarta Gardens earlier this year, Art Jakarta returns from 2 to 4 October 2026, bringing together contemporary art from Indonesia and across Southeast Asia.
Now one of the region’s established art fairs, Art Jakarta continues to support the development of the visual arts ecosystem by creating a space for artists, galleries, collectors, institutions and art communities to meet, exchange ideas, build networks and collaborate.

The 2026 edition will feature 75 galleries, with more than half from Indonesia and 33 international galleries. Nineteen galleries will participate for the first time, bringing new perspectives to the fair.
Alongside the gallery presentations, Art Jakarta will feature a programme of special projects and collaborations with artists. These include an interactive presentation by Indonesian contemporary artist Handiwirman Saputra, a new installation by Yogyakarta-based artist Endry Pragusta, and Gravity of the Unheld by Treasury Art Prize winner Etza Meisyara.
Several other collaborations will explore themes ranging from sustainability and everyday materials to music, design and personal ideas of place. Agnes Hansella will present Hutan Kabel, an installation using discarded cable waste, while Aji Fajar/Palette Studio will showcase The Curiosity Engine. The fair will also feature works by winners of the ART MEETS MUSIC competition and the MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia Art Competition 2026.
Art Jakarta’s established sections will return, including SPOT, SCENE and AJX.
SPOT moves beyond the conventional gallery booth, giving artists and galleries greater freedom to experiment with scale and space. SCENE highlights artist collectives and collaborative practices, with 39 participants from different cities across Indonesia.
AJX focuses on collaborations with local and international institutions and cultural organisations. Korea Focus returns for its second year, presenting 14 galleries from South Korea, while Natta-Cita Art Space (N-CAS) from ISI Bali will introduce contemporary artists and academics from Bali.
New this year is SCOPE, supported by National Talent Management for Arts and Culture (MTN Seni Budaya). Its MTN Market will bring selected emerging art fairs and art communities from across Indonesia to Jakarta, including initiatives from Malang, Pekanbaru, Banyumas, Gorontalo, Bekasi and Yogyakarta.
Together, these programmes offer a broad look at contemporary art in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, while creating opportunities for exchange between artists, galleries, collectors and creative communities.
