From a French-inspired dinner in Jakarta to a cooking workshop in Yogyakarta or a culinary encounter in Surakarta, Rendez-vous Rasa: France–Indonesia Gastronomy Week 2026 puts French cuisine on the table in different ways from 23 September to 4 October. Taking place across Indonesia, the annual gastronomy week celebrates the exhange between French and Indonesian food through restaurant menus, chef visits, workshops and cultural activities.
The restaurant programme forms the biggest part of the week, with around 150 restaurants in more than 40 cities, from Medan to Merauke, serving a “Menu à la Française”. The menus feature French dishes alongside creations influenced by French cooking, with each restaurant bringing its own interpretation while leaving space for Indonesian ingredients and local culinary ideas.
The event is organised by the Embassy of France in Indonesia – Institut français d’Indonésie (IFI) together with Alliance française in Indonesia, Business France and Disciples Escoffier Indonesia. For its 2026 edition, Rendez-vous Rasa is also part of Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy (WIG) 2026, a flagship programme of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Indonesia Gastronomy Network.
One of the visiting names this year is Chef Stéphane Carrade, the French chef whose restaurant has been awarded two MICHELIN stars. From 23 to 30 September, he will travel to several Indonesian cities, meeting local culinary professionals and getting to know different parts of the country’s food culture. On 26 September, he will be at Pura Mangkunegaran in Surakarta for the opening of Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy 2026.
The week also has a strong focus on culinary education. Fabrice Danniel, Deputy Director of Culinary Arts at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, will conduct cooking workshops with IFI’s university partners around Indonesia. Students and young culinary professionals will get to work with French techniques and learn directly from an experienced chef.
Away from the restaurants and classrooms, IFI branches in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Surabaya, along with Alliance Française locations in Bali, Makassar, Medan and Semarang, will host cooking workshops, discussions and other food-related cultural activities. More than 30 other destinations across the country are also involved.
There is a new addition for anyone who prefers to document food to eating it: a Food Photography Competition organised by IFI with Nikon Indonesia. Participants can visit a participating restaurant between 23 September and 4 October, photograph a French dish with a camera or smartphone, then post it on Instagram.
