The popularity of Korean food in the city continues to climb. Fortunately, Jakarta’s most well-known  dining hub along Jalan Gunawarman and Senopati has started to cater to this demand, with one of the newest being Shin The Korean Grill. Opening its doors in November last year, the Korean fusion restaurant not only offers barbecue-based food as main menu but also some pasta that are worthy to taste.

Each pasta composition comes from the creation of Executive Chef, David Shin, former film director who is also passionate about culinary for a long time. The Oriental Basil Pesto Fettuccine is dedicated for vegetable lovers or vegetarian. This spinach fettuccine combines crunchy peanuts, fresh basil and Korean anchovy seasoning.

Oriental Vongole Spaghetti, with fresh mussels combined with dried red chili pieces in addition to the sweetness of the mussels and savoury seasonings, creates its own sensation when eating it. While its signature, Korean Beef Ravioli also gives a surprising taste where the ravioli that filled with beef and seasoned with Shin sauce to give typical Korean taste, cream sauce and crisp parmesan cheese to achieve rich texture.

Bulgogi Penne, contains the most flavourful marinade of bulgogi meats which blends softly with old gouda cheese and cream sauce. And when Chef Shin presented a big white-plate with black fettuccine with grilled shrimp, he excitedly said, “This is our Black Bean Tagliatelle! This menu is inspired from jjangmyeon, Korean cold noodle with black soybean paste.” Chef Shin infused an Italian touch by changing the noodle with pasta. An interesting blend of flavours, the black soybean paste tastes savoury with a fairly thick consistency and the chopped soybean has soft texture.
