When Sophie Jenkins and her family moved to Jakarta, they didn’t know anyone. What they found at NAS Jakarta was more than just a school. It was a community. As the school expands from Primary into Secondary, families like hers are relieved to know they can stay longer in a place that feels like home.
“We loved NAS Jakarta because it is a small community-based school and very values-driven. For us, having a community like that in a country where we didn’t know anyone was really important,” says Sophie, whose two children are in Year 2 and Foundation 2. “I would absolutely consider keeping our kids here through Secondary. I think moving countries is such a big change for the kids, and the longer that we can keep some stability in their school, the better.”

NAS Jakarta’s expansion to include Year 7 (Grade 6) and beyond is one of the most requested changes from the parent community. It means children no longer have to leave a place they love after Year 6. They can continue learning in the same warm, familiar environment, surrounded by teachers and friends who already know them well.
“This expansion means older and younger siblings can now stay together in a school they love, without the stress of transferring elsewhere or facing Jakarta traffic each day,” says Principal Rosy Clark.

For Danikee Knight, the school’s strong relationships and the daily joy his sons experience make a compelling case for staying through Secondary. “They enjoy coming to school on a daily basis. That’s a plus, when your kid can wake up in the morning and be excited to come to school,” says Danikee.
He adds that continuity is especially important for expat families. “If you have that kind of mentality going into Secondary learning, that is a plus,” he says. “With the rigour that will come with the academic curriculum, I think it’s a plus to be able to, as an expat, keep your kid in a stable environment consistently.”

As NAS Jakarta grows into a full through-school, it is staying true to what has always made it different. “Our approach is built on strong values, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to knowing every child,” says Rosy. “We offer a more personalised experience, one where students feel seen, supported, and ready to thrive.”
For both current and prospective families, this expansion is not just about new facilities. It’s about continuing every chapter of your child’s learning journey in one trusted place. NAS Jakarta now offers a seamless path from Early Years to Secondary — one school, every chapter.
