South Jakarta’s dining and lifestyle scene welcome a brand-new addition with the opening of Leon Goldstein, a hybrid bistro complete with a bespoke coffee shop and cocktail bar. Located at Jalan Wijaya I No. 25, Leon Goldstein boasts a laidback yet tasteful design with a family-friendly personality.
“Leon Goldstein is our newest venture in Jakarta’s ever-growing F&B scene. We designed Leon Goldstein to become a dining and lifestyle destination where people can meet to eat, have the best coffee, or simply have artisanal cocktails in an idyllic setting,” said Leon Gunawan, Operator of Leon Goldstein.
Entering Leon Goldstein, guests will descend upon a set of stairs where they’ll discover the restaurant decorated with jewel-coloured sofas and seats encompassing the space. Leon Goldstein also features a fully stocked bar where guests can indulge in their innovative and delectable cocktails as they enjoy the live band performances and DJ sets. The main floor showcases a modern all-day dining bistro, while a private room at the top can accommodate up to 15 people.
Presented as a one-stop dining destination, Leon Goldstein offers a variety of signature cocktails for those looking to enjoy after-hour cocktails. Several signatures to try include the Love Train, a blend of Milagro Silver, Campari, Punt E Mes, Banana Liqueur, and Chilli Tincure; and Midnight Hour, made with London Dry Gin, Almond Liqueur, pear thyme syrup, citrus and egg white.
In August, Leon Goldstein will introduce a coffee shop, serving the finest beans and pastry in a light, airy Scandinavian interior. That’s not all! Towards the end of the year, they will also unveil a speakeasy-themed cocktail lounge that specialises in hand-crafted spirits, bourbon, whiskey and a limited wine collection.
The Dining Experience
Regarding the dining experience, Leon Goldstein highlights a wide range of delectable dishes meticulously prepared by the culinary team. Serving a marriage of Pan-Asian, American and European cuisine, the signature menu consists of a range of soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches, pasta, Asian favourites and mouth-watering desserts.
Starting with the appetiser, a stand-out is the Croquetas de Gambas, a Spanish-style shrimp croquette made with a thick bechamel base served with tartare sauce, while highlighted salads include a classic American Cobb Salad, complete with sauteed herb chicken, chopped boiled egg, crispy beef bacon, gorgonzola cheese and served with ranch dressing.
For a hearty meal, guests should give their Beef Rib Fried Rice a try, served with decadent slow-braised beef short ribs with green peas and carrots, topped with a sunny-side-up egg and filled with classic shrimp crackers. Additionally, the Japanese Chicken Curry is also a great choice, a rich turmeric curry paste, slow-cooked in coconut milk with chicken thighs, potatoes, onions, carrots and sauteed eggplants served with steamed rice.
To close off your meal, revel in the array of enticing desserts including the classic Spanish-style churros served with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream or the Bread Butter Pudding, a take on the traditional British dessert made with buttered bread, raisins and egg custard, served with vanilla sauce and vanilla ice cream.
